Dead Gauges

Does anyone know how to fix dead gauges on a 93 SSE?
The problem started several years ago, while driving the gauges would reset themselves the same way as when the car starts. After a while they would go out, then come back in a few minutes. It became more and more frequent and they were out for longer periods of time. Sometimes they all went out, sometimes different combinations. Now they are all out except the speedometer and the tachometer. They have been on most of the time. Everything else (compass, temp, volt, oil pressure, trip meter) are out 99% of the time.
I checked the fuses, connections, and looked for crimped wires. Everything looks fine.
I can't correlate it with anything such as going over a bump, hot/cold/rain, etc...
Any ideas on how I might fix it???
Thanks,
