ABS light goes on when....

I put the vehicle in reverse after startupon my '99 Malibu LS. If I go forward after startup it doesn't come on????

Any suggestions?

I've had the same problem happen twice with my 97 mali. The first time it started exactly like you are discribing and the second time it just came on and wouldn't go away. I'm sorry to say It's one of you wheel sensors. Unfortunately because of the way it's manufactured you must replace the entire wheel bearing which has the sensor in it. While it is possible to do yourself, Ifound it much easier to have the shop do it for me. Total damage about $325.
