Ground Wires: Brand? Ground Points?

So I'm looking at getting some ground wires for my car... any real difference between brands? Also, does anyone have any experience with where exactly to ground the wires? Is there a rule of thumb that's universal or do I need to know for my specific body (I drive a 92' DX Hatch)? I've just seen dynos that show that where you attatch the wires can greatly affect the gains seen from ground wires.

Talk about hype at its best... dont believe everything you read on the internet, and only believe half of what you see in person.

ground wires are not going to give you any hp...but if you really want them, make it yourself. dont spend 80+ for those things its not worth it

You can check for yourself... admittedly it'll be hard to find anything reputable on the internet, but I've seen dynos is various magazines that show the results from it (and the only difference before and after is the wires)...

yeah and i've seen dyno graphs saying that AEM cold air intake makes 12 more horsepower than Brand X cold air intake and they are just a fucking pipe. dont belive everything that you read.

The info is from one of the project cars in an Import Tuner...where they dyno after every mod (ie A'PEXi take gave them 4.8 hp) after they fiddled with their ground points, they were able to pull off ave 2-5 hp on a 2002 wrx and ave. 3-6 ft lbs of torque (per March 2003 issue page 68).

They do do something...

its hype. If you want to try it anyways, go to your local hardware store and get a big piece of 8 gauge wire and run your own. save 79.99

<shake head> ... I'm talking publication that is showing the gains from various add-ons for an article; not an ad or some schmoe on the street... sure the ads advertise like 12 hp from the things, but if you do your own research rather than blind faith, you'll find that there are gains to be had

Anyhoo I'm just trying to get flamers off my back so I can get an answer...
... there's gotta be somebody out there with some experience in this that can help... everything else I read says that the gains depend so much on where you ground, and I found some suggestions, but nothing specific to my vehicle....

theres a few rules in making grounds...

1.) make sure its good metal to metal contact. scrape off paint if necessary...

2.) the only real difference between wires u pick up at an auto store n the one u find in a $.99 store is shielding... as long as u dont run the wire next to sumthin high-voltage or high-current potential u should be fine...

3.) make sure to ground everything to the chassis...

4.) make the ground wire no longer than 2 feet (it changes for each gauge size, so this is the general rule of thumb)... a wire has a natural resistance... the longer the wire, the bigger the resistence (plus it changes the reference point... in electrical engineering, grounds are considered to b the reference point where u solve everything else)

sparq and all the other non believers you guys need to chill out! The ground wires do work and many of my fellow 2gnt people say they work like a charm. They make your car idle smoother, snappier throttle response and better gas millage. So before you go jumping my bones read this thread.

Man I have read the same thing in import tuner AND Sport Compact Car.

Its not a rip there are small gains to be had.Small gains but hell a small gain is still a gain. :thumbsup:

What a wierd thread... went from flaming and me defending in an all against one, to a guy helping me, to everyone helping me with my side of the story... :confused: at any rate, I got a set off ebay for like $15 ( I know I know... I could build better ones myself, but I'm lazy) and I'm going to install them next weekend... so we'll see then eh?
