New to Buicks and this forum

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Greg and I just got a 1990 Buick LeSabre. Its ice blue with 24,000 origional miles. It was aquired through my wifes great-aunts estate. Its in excellent shape. I dont know much about Buicks, so I am here to learn. Check the links below for a few pictures. Thanks everyone. :smile:

Welcome to the boards, and you will probably find that the Buick forums hare are less than spectacular. Only a small handful of people regularly post here, and by that, I mean 2, me, and a smart mechanic named Flatrater.

I think you will love your "new" car! The board here is kinda slow, maybe that's because our cars are so reliable? :iceslolan

Maybe it's because there aren't alot of people modifying them.......

Anyway, sit around and chat, ask questions, kill some time.

By the way, did ya know that the dish washer does a great job cleaning your cars ashtrays? Don't let your significant other catch you but it also will clean about any engine part you can load in there! :icon16:

Just found out she passed MD inspection with flying colors (I knew she would). The mechanic who did the inspection couldn't believe the low miles and the fact shes like new. Now, I just get the tags and drive.

Welcome and nice car! i just got my first buick three weeks ago. a '98 lesabre custom. with 88k on it. very good condition. hope your car treats you well

Seems to me that there is another pretty good technican called PCMOS that has given some excellent diagnosis of the problems posted in this forum. Don't discount him!

Congrats on the "new" '90, Greg. In my opinion, that's a really good car. I've put 275K on my '90 so far. I expect yours will serve you well.

As long as we're handing out kudos, I'll say too that pcmos is quite knowledgeable, and has a friendly, helpful attitude. He stuck with me on an 11-week ignition system problem with my '95. I really appreciated his detailed posts, and the fact that he even did some tests on his own car to double-check info for me. *That's* the kind of contributor that's going to make it a better forum.

Sal and Tim- I assure you, his help did not go unnoticed, and he will be rewarded for it somewhat soon.

I'm also new to this forum. I have a 96 LeSabre (my wife wanted it but drives my Toyota truck instead). Trying to find the problem with my 96 LeSabre, check engine light stays on. It has less than 60k miles. I have the shop manual but it does not list the engine codes or how to measure them. In the past with my older cars, I just conected two terminals on the connector below the steering wheel and read the stored codes from the flashing check engine light. The manual usually had a table of the codes and probable problem. It seems that this method is history. My question is where do a get the engine code information and how do I measure them?

You can take your car to most of the major auto parts stores and they will read the codes for free. You need a scanner to read the codes on this car. Good Luck.
