2001 Venture air filter headache

The housing cover was already broken slightly by the previous owner.

I'd really like to know how to extraxt the entire housing (which includes the part that houses the computer), insteading of possibly damaging something else. It's cold and inlet tube is stiff. There's no way I can get the filter out w/o shredding it.

Can someone describe the procedure for taking the entire housing out? I'm not afraid of the extra work - I'm a Venture owner how could I be!!
