Fujimi Honda Integra DC2

Mr Plumb

I now have much more time to be able to devote to the hobby so it's nice to get cracking on some builds.

Currently the build is held up by a set of 18" Fujimi TE37s coming from HLJ, they should be here today or tomorrow judging by the tracking info. This is stopping me setting up the suspension and being able to lower it etc.

Here is a shot of the DC2 I am going to replicate, courtesy of Super Street Magazine. This build will have a carbon fibre bonnet/hood and boot/trunk with carbon side skirt extensions and lip. And of course, it will be white! Not original but they look so good in white. I will be painting it pure white instead of championship white.

Body was prepped, de-badged and had its first coat of white primer, which of course revealed lots of tiny imperfections to fix:

Interior in black with hand painted floor ready for flocking:

I plan on building another DC2 with full engine detail, so with this one I will just make the best of the kit exhaust and fill any gaps in the exhaust system! A nice big rear muffler will be added too:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0356.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0356.jpg.html)

Mirrors completed using adhesive foil. They look a bit messy in the photo however once fitted in the mirror they look spot on:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0366.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0366.jpg.html)

Various parts waiting to be modified and sink marks and holes filled. Any tips on making the center dash vents actually look like vents?
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0368.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0368.jpg.html)

Styrene strips to be used for the carbon side skirt extensions and some truss to make some aftermarket lower arms:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0364.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0364.jpg.html)

More random parts waiting in primer for some paint and fitting:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0365.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0365.jpg.html)

Radiator and fan assembly painted, not perfect but I'll do some minor touch ups before fitting...the chassis is a long way off yet!
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0357.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0357.jpg.html)

And finally a few more random parts, I am going to repaint or replace the steering wheel as I'm not 100% happy with it and the finish:

Goodies! Finally got my package from HLJ. Will NOT be paying for quicker postage again due to customs charges of course :( But I wanted to carry on with this build and not put it back in the box for months! Ahwell, very happy with the items inside, should make a few future builds a lot more realistic. And the fiancé will be pleased with her gift :D

More progress pics later or tomorrow, time to sort the suspension out :)

Mr Plumb

So I started to lower the suspension and sort the "stance" out last night, few trial an error moments. Such as snipping the pegs to allow the new wheels to fit snugly against the hubs, yet I needed to space the rear wheels out so they weren't lost in the arches! I ended up using pegs that were the same size in the end, hurray for spare parts!I used the spacers that came with the TE37s and all is well:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0385.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0385.jpg.html)

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0395.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0395.jpg.html)

Spare wheel well sanded down so it wasn't poking out from under the rear bumper. Will need a bit of plastic glued in where I went though, but a bit of glue etc and sanding and it will be fine:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0416.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0416.jpg.html)

I'm going to use some plastic tube in order to lower this kit, trying something new and once the two parts are together I will blend it all in to look as one piece:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0415.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0415.jpg.html)

R32 pedals to be fitted, then fix those missing vents!:http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0421.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0421.jpg.html)

Progress looking good Elliott!!! Those seats look right at home in there. Cool little goodies you got there... Can't wait to see what you use them on. Patiently waiting to see how the lower control arms turn out with those trusses. :naughty:

Thank you my friend, I'm still unsure on whether to do the lower arms on this build or the build I plan on putting a K20 into......we shall see how the build goes first :)

Thank you for your opinion on the seats, after looking at the photo I think I made my mind up on them to stay :)

Keep on posting! Looking good so far.

I will do! The weather is spoiling things at the moment, frustratingly the mould lines have reappeared so they need sorting out, should of used the Sharpie trick my friend told me about!

I'm dying to get the wheels in paint but I just want to take my time and make sure I can make a very nicely detailed kerbside for now :)

Carbon side skirt extensions measured and are now the exact length. I had a go at using carbon decals and it wasn't as disastrous as I first thought. These will be done tomorrow though!

Now time to make a custom cat back exhaust while the suspension is drying!

That should look nice bro. I like the details you are adding in this build since those little details here and there will create a huge impact and going to make the model look more realistic when the build is complete.

Anyway, I watched your review about Kunny'z chaser that you posted on youtube & I'm planning on getting one. I like the fact that you can built it in stock form as well. Btw, do you happen to know where I can get 1/24 kit of a Toyota Mark II JZX90 Tourer V? (not the JZX100 model).

Thanks

Thank you my friend! This new post will explain why there has been a lack of progress ;)

After a 3 week wait, a lovely package came containing some wheels and a lovely Lexus IS200 yay!

I decided to go with 17" wheels and use super low profile tires instead of the 18s as I thought they looked a tad too big scale wise.

Keep your eyes peeled, more photos very very soon :)

Another small update:

Rear lower arm (?) modified (bent) to fit the lowered rear suspension
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0751.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0751.jpg.html)

Wheels had their first light coat. Last time I sprayed the 18s they had far too many metallic flakes on the surface (The downsides to using automotive spray paint. Airbrush in a few months though so I shall soldier on!)
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee24/3LL1077/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0757.jpg (http://s234.photobucket.com/user/3LL1077/media/Integra%20DC2%20WIP/DSC_0757.jpg.html)

And finally, the rest of the chassis area parts were primed. I would really love some suggestions on what colours to paint the suspension and lower arms everyone? Brakes I'm thinking maybe white, or gold? Any suggestions on that would be great too! Also pictured is the custom exhaust I mentioned way earlier on!

Chassis is usually black along with control arms. I guess you could make the lower control arms look anodized gold, red, or blue..
If you have too much flake, try a couple coats of flat clear before you put gloss over it.

Yeah I think I'm gonna go with gold! :D

Thank you for the kind words, I used my fingers and gently bent the arm bit by bit, not in one go :) Not heat at all, just need to take your time. The same method was used with the front lower arms too :)

Yeah I've heard of the flat clear first trick, the problem was me spraying automotive paint far too close and trying to get the wheels covered in one hit. I've since done a few layers and they look ten times better! :D

Thank you for the advice my friend

Type-R seats could be ordered in red with black carpets or black with red carpets...also, personally, I prefer the Recaros that come standard with the ITR's from Japan. Also, and this is a personal thing, 18's are wayyyy too big for a n Acura...
