Haven't been on this forum in a few years and have taken a break from the 1/24 scene, enjoying 1/10 RC so I have decided to come back and build a great looking car in my opinion, and a true rally classic... The Datsun 240z Rally edition. It's a Hasegawa kit that was released recently if I'm not mistaken so it should be easy for you all to get if this build piques your interest.

Some materials, paint, glue etc.

The body.. lines were pretty clean and the mold was nice quality, just doing a bit light sanding to prep the primer paint.

I have this kit in my stash. I've still to get the correct paint code for the red paint and I would like to have a go at weathering on it. It looks a nice kit.

Cool car and cool kit. THis was from those couple of years when Hasegawa was really putting out some nice stuff in 1/24. But I have to say...

:useless:

Lmao the last part made me laugh man. I'll be sure to get some for you all today. And yes it's a very nice looking kit from what it seems.

I'll probably just go with Tamiya Red Enamel, their paint is always fool proof to me.

Except Tamiya doesn't offer a correct red for the Datsun cars of that era which makes it tough. Best bet is to find a color close or that you can live with.

Haven't really taken a close look at the period colour for that Datsun so that'll be food for thought, but if all else fails id be content with the tamiya red enamel for sure.

Pics help!

Kinda makes me want dig mine out and build it.

Some people make a big deal of the color of this one. I certainly can't say that they're wrong- but in all of the pics I've seen of the real thing, I can see nothing that doesn't look like plain old bright Ferrari style resale red. I'm not color blind (and the FAA can attest to that), but it doesn't just look like an exotic or unusual color to me. When I do mine, I expect I'm going to be perfectly happy with TS red.

Heres a few WIP photos, so I'm sanding the body out a bit and I'm reading the instructions simultaneously and I'm noticing you have to drill out holes in the body for the extra running lights.

The holes on the hood were made by pushing through the bottom, as well as near the windscreen pointed out by my knife, it's nicely marked so it's easy for builders to do

Here's another shot of the rear running light hole

Zero paints - Bright Red could be a good candidate. It would be cool to replicate the battle damage if you feel brave!
