the fastest Diablo

What is the fastest Diablo? (...and how fast is it?)

If you can create 10 second Toyotas and Hondas, then surely there has to be equally fast Diablos. (I remember seeing a Diablo on ebay a long time ago that had over 800HP with twin turbos, or something similar. Anyone remember seeing a Diablo like this?)

we talked a bit about top speed in this thread:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t106839.html

for Lambo stock models performance tables see:
http://www.lambocars.com/framed/tables.htm

acording to Supercars.net, the fastest 0-60 Diablo is the VTTT with 3.2s and as for top speed it is the Diablo Coatl with 385 km/h (239.2 mph).. but they don't have the times for the Gemballa Diablo, wich is almost certainly the fastest Diablo - claimed 410 kmh (255 mph) !!!

The Gemballa Lotec Twin Turbo:

...found something new:

http://www.powerful-cars.com/lamborghini%20diablo/lamborghini%20diablo%20t50%20gemballa.htm

Beschl. 0-100km/h 3,1s
Beschl. 0-160km/h 5,9s
Beschl. 0-200km/h 8,5s
Beschl. 0-250km/h 13,0s
Beschl. 0-300km/h 20,0s

if this is correct, it runs like hell!!! 0-300 kmh (187 mph) in 20 seconds!!!!

Wow. I wonder if Uwe Gemballa's Lamborghini Diablo's top speed is legitimate???

I guess the Diablo GT is definitely the fastest stock Diablo. Also my favorite, right next to the 6.0s:

The rear view camera on the GT (tucked up under the rear wing) is a neat idea. Not sure how well it works though.

The 'TV' screen is ahead of the gear lever, located in the central console.
According to my friend, who has a GT, it takes a little getting used to, as even now, he still occasionally looks to the top of the windscreen for his rear view, before he remembers where he ought to be looking.

I bet it does take a bit of time to get use to it. Your friend owns one? I'm amazed at how many people on this board either own exotic cars or know of people that do. I have never even seen a Lamborghini in real life before.

Next question...

Why doesn't Lamborghini release a model that is as powerful as Uwe Gemballa's or something close? Why have "cheap" (relatively speaking) Vipers claiming titles over a car worth 3 times the price?!

Yeah my friend owns an orange GT. I had to buy his Countach off him so that he could afford it!

If you look at the Car Park photographs at www.88qv.com (http://www.88qv.com) , the orange Diablo and white Countach that appear together in some of the photographs are the two cars in question.

Also, there is one photograph (in the Track section I think) taken through the rear window of the Countach, where the GT is following me down the Autostrada.

You have a Countach and have a friend with a Diablo GT. Wow. Why do you list you Peugeot and not your Lamborghini in your info??? I certainly would be telling the world if I owned a Lamborghini. And the pictures are great...

I only use the Lambo on special occasions - the Peugeot is my daily run around. Also, despite this being a Lambo enthusiasts forum, there are still a few people out there who think you are being a flash b@st@rd if you announce to the world that you own a Lambo.

If someone asks me about it, I don't hide the fact that I have a Countach and I am quite happy to answer any questions about it, it's just not something I prefer to broadcast to the world.

It's the same when driving it. Most people have a good look, and quite a few give you the thumbs up or a wave. But there are a minority who you know think you are being flash; jealousy I suppose. What they don't realise is that it took me several years of hard work and sacrifice to be able to afford my dream car. C'est la vie.

C'est la vie.I know exactly what you mean, and I only own a car worth about $2,000. I'm an entrepreneur and I've been doing my best to get a few business ideas off the ground over the past 3 or 4 years. Eventually, my hard work will pay off and I'll be able to afford luxuries that most people can not. (I must make the point that money has never been the motivating factor in my life, but instead my lifestyle has. I want to enjoy what I do everyday.) I have already thought about the day I buy a Lamborghini and I see someone looking back at me thinking I'm arrogant. What they probably will not realize is that I've wanted a Lamborghini ever since I became interested in cars in grade 4.

Anyway, I have no problems with anyone telling me they own a Lamborghini. You are the second guy so far that I have met through the Internet who has had to work hard to get one. There is nothing wrong with that. I believe the majority of people who are wealthy enough to purchase a Lamborghini have had to work hard!

scarecrow,
usually when people look at the interior of the countache its looks blocky and the speedometer looks strange do you get used to it as a nice interior?

Scarecrow
06-29-2003, 01:34 PM
The only thing that hasn't really aged well from the '70s is the instrument binnacle. It still looks blocky, whichever way you look at it.

The instruments themselves are fine; all the information you need is readily available - speedo, rev counter, oil pressure and temperature, water temperature and battery charge. It sounds like a lot, but it's laid out reasonably well.

The instrument 'stalks' for washers, windscreen wipers, lights and indicators also look a bit dated when compared with more modern kit, and they do feel a bit flimsy in use, but they do what they were designed for so why worry!

Everything else feels real snug. It's a wide car, but the seats are actually quite narrow due to the wide sills and the central console between the seats. Once in and seated though, it all feels rather cosy, and not at all claustrophobic as some people have reported. However, that may be due to the white interior. Whether a darker interior may feel a little more claustrophobic, I can't say.

It's not the easiest car to drive, but it has lived up to all the expectations I had of it before I managed to buy one, and now that I have one I can't see me ever getting rid of it.

Anyway, I should stop rabbiting on, this was supposed to be a discussion on Diablos after all!!
