Hi Guys,
I have just moved to the UK (Leeds) for a spell (approx 2 years) and I know I will not be able to go that long without modelling. So, I was wondering if any local guys out there might give me a clue as to where some good modelling stores are - both shopfront and on-line.
I know about grandprixmodels.com, and am thinking about ordering from them - does anyone have an opinion about these guys, good or bad? Their prices seem reasonable, and good range of stuff I am interested in.
Also, the show/club scene seems better here than back home (Aus). Any tips on local clubs or events, or where I can get some info?
Cheers,
Pots.
P.S. don't mention the rugby or Lleyton!

I've been ordering from GPM for a long time. They are very professional and down the line. I do find however, that for stuff available from HLJ i.e. Studio 27 decals, GPM tend to be a bit more expensive due to UK VAT. Also, they tend to not have a lot in stock and will place it on backorder for you. But for other stuff such as Renaissance, etc. they are my main source. Give 'em a try.

I know there is a branch of IPMS in leeds and a couple of other clubs in the area. There is a good show at Huddersfield early in the calender year . Try searching the web for IPMS uk there should be some links there or at least contact names for you. An alternative maybe to get one of the UK model mags as they tend to have a section giving club/show details. If you have no luck PM me as I am in contact with people who can get club contact details.

I placed an order with www.grandprixmodels.com back in Jan 2003 for a Renaissance Subaru door open kit and a load of Sakata (SP) bits, to date they have never turned up. might as well have ordered from else where.

Hi there,
Well you're very close to me!
In Leeds there are two model shops that I know of for certain..
One in crossgates (mainly Radio Control stuff) but have the odd kit and ideal for paints etc 0113 2646117
The other called TMC in the Merrion Centre in the City (I forget the number).
There used to be one in Chapel Alerton called Battlefield Models but not been there for years so not sure if its still around.. they were mainly military but had a few fujimi kits at the time
Otherwise I use Hannants (www.hannants.co.uk) or for the exotic kit HLJ.com.
Good Luck.. If I think of anymore I'll post.
Cheers
