Sorry, this isn't too honda-specific (but the car in question is a honda)-
I took off my cylinder head, and there's a whole bunch of orangish crud, kinda rustlike flakes collected on the piston tops. I can't assume this is good or normal, but haven't been able to find specific reference to this in any auto maintenance books. Help!

Did the engine set there for a while?
I am pretty sure it's from the coolant, probably when you take the head off the block and the residue fell out from the water passage and drop into the cylinder. Either that or somehow somewhere the water jacket is leaking coolant into the cylinder.
