Recommend car tire pump?

I'm getting tired of paying a buck every time I need to fill up my tires with air. The other thing is that I have to compensate for the fact that the tires are not cold by the time I drive to the station. Which pump would you all recommend?

I would recommend an air compressor not an air pump. The problem with the air pumps that I have used over the years is though they can pump up to 125 psi, they don't have any volume so it takes like 5 to 10 minutes to inflate a single car tire if it needs more than a couple of pounds. A small air compressor with a regulator is much handier to have around too. Can run air tools, blow guns, etc..

Actually I meant by air compressor one that had a tank. I have one that's not too large. It has an eight gallon tank and will pump it up in a couple minutes. Then you can wheel it around and fill all your tires easily. I don't know your budget or if you have the room for one but I find it easier and more useful than the 12v inflators.

I'm just looking for something to add a pound or two when my tires are getting low. Will these under $50 units do the trick?

For what you're looking to do, I'd suggest the Ryobi inflator (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-18-Volt-One-Plus-Cordless-Green-Inflator-P731/203060297), especially if you happen to already have Ryobi One+ tools. I use the heck out of mine for exactly the purpose you describe. The thing about this that really sets it apart is you set the desired inflation pressure on the display, turn it on, then it fills the tire to the pressure that you set it to and automatically turns the compressor on. If you happen to be watching it when doing this don't get alarmed if it appears to go over by a psi or two, when it shuts off it will settle out to the desired setting. I also use this for my high pressure bicycle tires and keep it in the camper in the Spring and Summer to also inflate beach floaties and inflatable mattresses since it has a built in high volume/low pressure pump as well.

Good call! I see that it has a lot of positive reviews. I'm about due for a trip to the Depot anyway.
