Has anyone done this to their G? I want to do this, and have friends that can do it, but want to know how safe it is (since I have a 5-speed). I get alarms about 25% off retail cost (markup is incredible on these things) at my work and want to get it done. Any info would be appreciated.

I looked at doing to my car, the alarm had a turbo timer built in to it, so there was no chance of leaving it in gear.
That could be a cheap way of fixing the old prob of leaving it in gear and starting it and watching it drive though the garage door:flash:

I think it's more the problem that you can shift without needing a key. So someone can just get in and drive away. In an automatic, the key HAS to be in the ignition before you can shift outta park, so no one can run off with your car.

I have a Crimestopper unit w/remote start.
Once the car has been started, it can be moved without the key (unfortunately), but you can't go far . . .
Since the key isn't in, the steering wheel is locked . . . not only that, but with the alarm unit that I have, stepping on the brake will cause the car to shut down.
I guess it'll depend on which alarm you have . . . or you may wnat to find a way to use the brake as a trigger for the car to shut down if that is possible for you . . .
I'm not too sure cause I'm not a specialist in electronics . . . and this is just from my experience.
Good luck.
