Ford escape Oil Light PLEASE HELP!!

PLEASE HELP ME!! :):)I have a 2002 Ford Escape. I have owned the car for 4 years and the oil light had never worked. I troubleshooted the problem and the light on the instrument cluster was burned out. I had to solder a new LED light to the instrument cluster. When I installed the cluster the oil light came on but now it will NOT TURN OFF. The light stays on when the key is on and when the car is running. It does not matter if I am accelerating or at idle. It always stays on. I went through a few more troubleshooting steps. I replaced the oil pressure sending unit. The light is still on. I have not done a manual check of the oil pressure but I do not believe low pressure is the problem because I have been driving it for 4 years and have NEVER had engine trouble. I disconnected the pressure sending unit while it is running and the oil light still stays on. I checked for resistance in the oil pressure sending unit wire and had 1.6 ohms which is normal. I checked for voltage to ground in the pressure sending unit wire at cluster connector and had 0 volts which is normal. I checked resistance to ground at cluster and my resistance jumped all over the place and then settled at .2 ohms. I could only get this to occur when the wire was hooked up to the sending unit. It would not occur when it was disconnected from the sending unit. Has anyone else had this problem. I am very frustrated and I don't know what it could be. I hope I have explained this clearly. I don't know what to do next.

I say hook up a manual gauge. Mine never had an oil issue. Son was driving it recently, oil light came on. Stopped and checked that oil was good, so he tried driving on to his destination and the engine is locked up. Just because there's been no problems you've seen, doesn't mean there isn't a clog somewhere or the oil pump isn't going out.

Considering a manual gauge. Light stays on when I disconnect the oil pressure sending unit though so I believe it's a problem with the light itself.

I just wanted to say that putting an actual gauge on will let you know definitely what the pressure is. You said you took a reading at the sensor. Did you try just jumpering the sensor wires to complete that circuit? I have the Ford 2002 Escape manual on a CD somewhere. I will try and find it and see if it has the wiring diagrams or anything else that might be helpful in this situation.
