car will start just fine, thin turns off in3 second with the theft system light on.you must turn the key off, then it will stop the same way, over and over, till the sun comes out and warms the car.there are no codes and it runs fine if the sun is out! Do I need a new weatherman?

The fact that it starts and runs for 3 seconds and dies, does "sound" like a Security problem.....but temp doesn't usually factor into a
security problem......

When it won't start, try spraying carb cleaner into the intake to see if it starts and runs as long as you spray.....if it does, check fuel pressure with a gauge.....if ok, then the injectors are not firing, which could be a Security problem....

I don't remember this system being in an '89.......was this a typo, and is really a '98?

You are right .It is a 98 cavalier! Yes the fuel pressure is good.Is there a way to disarm the theft system?I was told it could be a computer problem. The only code that came up on a Mack code reader was to do with the crank censor. BUT the car starts and runs Fine in warmer or/sunny weather!???!??

If your getting a computer code for a crank sensor I would repair this problem. Passlock 11 should bring up a code.

PassLock will set a "B" code, like B2958 or B2960....

Most scanners or code readers can only read "P" codes, not "B" codes.....

If either code is set, the usual fix is a new PassLock sensor.....
