The AIR BAG light on my 1995 Plymouth Grand Voyager just came on. I cannot figure out what it's supposed to mean. What does it mean, and how serious is it?

I had the same on my 96 Voyager. It means there is some malfunction with the computer system in your van. I went the dealer and there was a vehicle recall on that light. You should look into it, it maybe in that recall and you can get it done... free.

I took it to the dealer. The rear wiper motor burned out, and that's somehow connected to the Air Bag system. The wiper motor has a lifetime warranty, which the dealer replaced at no cost to me. Once that was done, the Air Bag light went out (and the code is no longer in the computer).

There's a recall to replace the "clockspring" in the steering wheel/column that apparently affects the ground contact for the airbag, horn, speed controls (basically every electrical gadget) on the steering wheel. The recall notice I got had a mileage clause - over so many miles and the repair would be done if the air bag light came on, under that mileage and the repair would be done right away, light or not. Check with the dealer and see if this applies to your van.

Thank you very much. I talked to Plymouth service center and got repaired my van at no charge. The millage clause is 115,000 km after that only if the airbag light is on.
