I have a 2000 i30. Just had the belts and harmonic balancer replaced car has 182,000 miles. When I picked the car up from the mechanic I began experiencing a delayed startup which eventually became worse and days later the car would not turn over at all. Never had an issue with the car firing up until the belts and balancer were replaced. Took it back to the mechanic and they said the starter was bad so that was replaced too. After picking up the car a 2nd time the car requires the gas pedal to be floored in order to turn over. The mechanic claims it has to do with the service engine light. Told me I should go to the dealership (seriously?) to have it checked. It has been extremely cold in Chicago where I live and not sure if this is attributing to the problem. The service engine light is on and came up with multiple o2 sensor codes. Recently put sea foam fuel injection cleaner into the gas tank in hopes to clean out any build up that may be causing a rough start. I DO NOT want to put any more $ into this car right now. Attempting to buy a new car by next month and just need this car to run another month without unnecessary expenses. Any advice is appreciated.

Service engine light has been on for years as well. Seemed
More then coincidental that my balancer went out and then the starter and startup problems all occurred in one week.

...Who would?
Regular maintenance keeps a car running. Theres no free miles: plugs filters coilpacks die by the mile. Sticking IACV idle adjust motor, ol plugs can make startup painful. Clean. Buy basic plugs & swap. Acting coilpack(s) replaced...

I haven't neglected any maintenance on this vehicle hence why it has 182k miles. This is the only instance where I've had to tow the car to a mechanic I have never used before because I recently moved. I had all the plugs replaced just about 7 months ago. Battery is also less then 1 year old. Starter and serpentine belts are brand new. After the car was towed and serviced the SLIP and traction control lights have came on and stayed on and the car drives regularly. Not sure if that is related to the startup issue? Could a coil pack or a single bad plug or 2 effect the start up that immensely? I feel like the only reason the starter needed to be replaced was because an issue was overlooked after serpentine belts and balancer were installed.

O2 error code & SLIP and traction control lights cant be behind a bad startup. However, they may indicate smtg else ... If charge voltage is low, that can cause myriad problems. Has to be 14,2V to 14,7V. If that is found idling at battery, smtg slightly less has to be found at computers supply/gnd pins. (pain to gain access)
One plug/ coilpack cant kill startup; multiple semi dead will make it a pain. If you have bosch plugs, they really can kill engine totally, even if swapped yesterday... Try ngk/denso or whatever - never bosch.
Warm engine has startup problems when engine/ECU temp sensor is bad --> ECU uses cold injection setting based on wrong information. The dash temp gauge has a separate sensor, that still works and beautifully makes driver think all is ok - this trick keeps millions cars consuming more gas. (More taxmoney = the only and true reason behind mandatory glopapal OBD-systems)

- yes. He has been warned to teach this phrase to everyone in his lodge... it is serious business. Endangering this global goldmine will get you banned...
The indicator light is programmed to be blinked intermittently on all cars - global business. You should obey it :( ... Blink business is allpowerfull, immense. Just one slice of it, plug wire business is globally 30 billion dollars per year... I wrote an article how to DIY build dirt cheap 'race wires' ---> my Cardomain site was immediately pulled down. Serious. I mean the difference with these wires is immense = more power, less gas. And that information is a threat to...
