Hello,

I hope someone can help me out here, iv used the forum many times in the past for problems with my taho and got a lot of great feedback so hoping someone can help me again.

Im trying to figure out what is making my transmission not want to shift right when my check engine light comes on. When my check engine light comes up it seems like it don't want to shift correctly, the rpms are a little higher then normal and when it does shift gears it jerks. I checked the transmission fluid and change the filter as well but it still seems to happen most the time I go for a drive, when I shut the truck off for a few mins the check engine lights goes off and then it shifts normal. Anyone know what can cause it to be doing that any help would be great.

My thinking is that when the CEL comes on, the vehicle opts into 'limp mode' and compensates. First thing is to get the codes read. Good luck.

as an example this will happen as you describe. remove the MAF connector .............

I would post what vehicle/engine you have mileage and any aftermarket changes ...

posting the check engine light DTC will also get some answers.

I agree, get the codes read.......all codes, engine, transmission, Body, Communication, etc
