Mr. Bean's Mini

My latest project inspired by one of my heroes.
I am sure most have seen the scene from the TV series. If not, there is Youtube.
The chair is scratchbuilt from plastic sheet. I used autoCAD and a frame from the video to get the proprtions as best I could. All the other stuff he tried to pack inside the car will need to be made as well.
Eventually I will try to have a Mr. Bean figure sitting in the chair driving with all the ropes included.
I think I missed the shade of green, should be more yellow. It's hard to find that kind of colour in model paints.

Can not forget the padlock

And the mop and broom to replace his right foot

No, but I kind of with it was
I wish I had thought of this idea!
Great job all round and particularly on the "door lock" because that thing must be tiiiiiiny.

Long time with not much progress.
I really wanted to have a figure of Bean on top of the car and was hesitant to start. I have never done a real life figure before and did know where to find suitable seated figures that were the correct size. Luckily I found the Fujimi set in the local hobby store that I was able to finesse into the shapes I wanted.

I used sheet plastic to make the outline of his jacket
http://images61.fotki.com/v665/photos/3/3201143/12769237/DSC00693-vi.jpg
It was a tough task getting is arms in the positions I wanted them. Eventually I got everything the way I wanted, I realized I had test fitted everything without the chair's cushion so his feet float in the air. :banghead:
So the accurately dimensioned cushion has to go.

I was also building a 59 Cadillac at the time. Takes the concept of sitting on top of your car one step further.

It took a long time for me to be satisfied with the final position of his arms. His right arm needed to have many "operations" before it was out far enough for the broom and mop controls not to look bowed. It was the first time I did a figure and I am satisfied with the result.
The fact that the glass is installed from the outside on this kit made it so much easier to connect the steering and place the mattress.

Final touches on the Mini included homemade decals for the license plate and sold tag, revised side mirrors and the padlock. I also realized the rear bumper I modified did not fit. I think I made it made so that the width and the tabs lined up for the front bumper. D'oh!!
