How to...

Can you guys give me some tips on how to properly tape off a section of a model so that I don't have overlapping paint. Im looking to spray the engine compartment of a Revell ITR in Championship White, while the interior needs to be black. Any tips would be extremely helpfull.

I don't exactly understand the extent of what you need to know, but mask off the entire interior, spray the engine compartment and wait for it to dry, then mask off the engine compartment and spray the interior.

well yeah, I realize that but is there anything else that needs to be done? For instance do you use anything other then tape, like newspaper or some kind of plastic like seran wrap?

Really up to you, it'll save you some tape to use paper when covering large areas. But then again, general purpose masking tape is only .99 cents...

I usually use the Tamiya masking paper for the transition. Behind that I use cheap masking tape that I find in DIY stores. Sometimes, for large areas, I also use "food plastic film" (the one you cover the dishes with) but there, take care ! I once used special plastic film that is compatible with the microwave oven : the problem is that this film has a number of microscopic holes in it : you don't see them but the paint will go through. I got a very strange effect : very small silver points on my black paint job !!!:bloated:
