Accidently left my key and unlocker modem in the wash.

I Was doing my laundry today and accidentally left my ignition key and the 4 button modem (door locker/unlocker) for my 2000 Lincoln TC hidden in the pocket of my jeans in the wash. Was worried that the water would kill the electronics, but lo and behold everything works. I suspect that Ford knew people would do this and sealed up the unit.

Anyone leave their automotive control item in the wash, or even get it soaked while overturning a boat? Did the unit work out ok?

Will be careful about pockets from now.
