Skunk 2 Intake Manifold

I was just looking at some Import Tuner Mags and saw an add for B-Series Skunk2 Intake Manifolds. What kind of gains would something like that be, in real terms, not what the company says. They are always full of it.

How much of gain it will give you depends on what is done to your car already. stock engines with I/H/E will have different gains that an engine with I/H/E & head work for instance.

with a n/a motor about 7 hp more if its ported and polished and a whole lot more if your motor is forced induction.

I don't know if Skunk 2 doesn't know what the fxxk they are doing or they just don't know what I am asking.
I have sent an email to them about a week ago asking about what flow data, runner cc, length, and port ID and such for the D series intake manifold since I was interested to get one myself. I have not receive any reply at all and I assume I never will.
Does anyone has the info I need for the skunk 2 D series intake manifold?

The d series manifold is on backorder until december I think....
As for the other apps, the only cars that REALLY benefit are those who have "upside down" manifolds, like the late 90's Integra Gs-r's....The straight runner design is far less restrictive than the stock design. For those cars, the "claimed" 20-25hp gain IS realistic. For every other motor, probably anywhere from 5-20hp, depending on existing mods.
All of the Skunk2 manifolds are based off of the CTR manifold for the b16...
I dont know anyone who has the d series manifold yet....Im very curious to see how it benefits that stubborn little turd. hehehe:icon16:
Porting honda motors is about as brilliant as an inflatable dartboard. It does nothing but foul up all of the engineering that was put into making that motor have specific flow characteristics. Im tired of hearing how great this is for performance :bs:

I am pretty much 100 % sure that the manifold itself will not give a stock car that much gain. It has to have other mods to get that number, especially a camshaft or force induction.

"Pretty much" and 100% sure are two different things. I have helped install several of these, and like I said....On the Honda motors that have the "upside down" style manifold, this unit is a drastic improvement.
Most of Skunk2's info is good....A company like that doesnt need to make outrageous claims, because the products speak for themselves.
Also, my mechanic is close personal friends with the two gentleman who started "skunkworks" which started out as Group A motorsports. These guys regularly speak with him almost weekly. So I tend to believe the people who designed these parts over someone who is "pretty much sure".

The skunk 2 manifold for any b-series with intake and full exhaust will gain a easily noticable difference in mid range and higher rpm range. I would only do JG if your forced induction applicatons. Trust me on this one.

Would you mind sharing your reasons for going with JG on FI aplications instead of Skunk2?

Well, let me rephrase that for you than, I am 100% sure the skunk 2 D series manifold will not give you 20-25 horse power gain in your stock Honda engine.
No offense to the Honda fans out there, but even Honda itself is bull shiting their engine output, so I don't see why skunk 2 wont. If you have ever dyno any Honda D and B series engine, it does not have the power as they claim to have (ex. S2000 only has about 200 HP instead of 240). You can ask any knowledgeable engine rebuilder out there they will tell you the same. It is exactly what the American motor companies did years ago-Lies.
Problem Si- I am not trying to pick on you, but you sound like you are doing advertisement for their product or something. You don't have to believe me but don't let friendship blind you from the truth.

Its called drivetrain loss bro. Its like that for every car in the world. Thats just base hp they give out but not at the wheels.

You're talkin about the 94 and up gsr manifolds rite? Yeh my friend just got his on and he felt a noticeable difference. It helps on high end. Most ppl say its a bit better than itr manifold. Itr manifold is a good investment also. My other friend also got his on his b16 and he said the same also.
I dont know about the rest of you but i love skunk2 products. Thats why i want to go with there head package wit there stage 2 cams.

I never said the JG/Skunk manifold would give you 20hp on the d series; hell for any n/a motor. i said for any b-series motor with intake and exhaust and a F.P.R it will be a great improvement.

I have been talking about "base hp" (horse power at the flywheel) all along. They still don't have as mucha HP as they claim.

You're 100% sure.....so that means you have one of these on your d series motor then???
Also, I wasnt even talking about the d series manifold. I haven't even seen one of those yet. I was talking about the b series applications.

It doesn't matter if it's B series or D series engine. No intake manifold alone will make those stock engine to gain 20-25 HP. You can rev the engine WOT, all the way to red line, hell, let's go pass the redline until the engine blows up for all I care. It will only give you no more than 10 HP gain (realisticly somewhere around 5 HP). I know it because I checked it on my engine analizer.

He probably didn't but i can tell you that it doesn't add 20-25 hp. My friend dyno'ed his gsr and this is what he has....
skunk2 manifold
skunk2 chip
dc header
rs-r cat back
cold air intake
all that put 163 hp to the wheels and 113 lbs of tq. I'll see if he still has the sheet. I posted it up awhile ago. I think it only add like 6 -9 hp.
