I am in search of a high performance track/street engine for my Honda del sol. Do any of u have any suggestions? I am limitted to $5K for this engine. And I would like to retain some of this money if possible...

go h22, you can get all of the parts that you need for under 3k if you install it all urself, and build a N/A monter. can you say mid 13's for under 3k.

Get a gs-r in that thing. Del Sols are heavier than Civics if I remember correctly, and the extra torque offered over B16 engines would be a plus to haul you around. H22's are great for power, but the headaches for the install and money for motor mounts/conversions really suck. Oh yeah with the H22 I hope you don't plan on taking any turns unless you spend even more money on a good suspension to hold that heavy beast up.

I'd sway away from the H22 delsol, seems to me that it is more front heavy than a civic, (haven't seen a weight distribution chart on them in a while). Though I am inclined to think it would be fine with the right precautions (suspension, battery relocation, and a HAsport kit), a B series (GSR) is a good motor, easy to put in. You should be able to have one at your door step for around $3400-$3500 and in you car for around another $500 if you have to rent a lift (or hoist), and tools. And then there is the ever present thing that could go wrong, get bad axles, sensors, new hoses etc...these you can't do anything about, and it doesn't matter what engine you put in.

i helped my friend put his h22 into his eg hatch and it went almost as smooth as my b series swap into my eg coupe. he has a nice suspension to help but a h22 is only 75 or 80 lbs heavier than a b series engine so why not?? an including the engine he only spent 3 k on everything including stage one custom axles. he is using i think hcp mounts and they were like 300 shipped off of ebay. just something to think about, b series rock, and i love my b series engine but like i said its something to think about.
