hmm, whaddya think guys? I love my RX-7 and all, but i need a daily driver and of course knowing me, i want something with some nut (and torque) to it. I was thinking Crown Vic.

Don't laugh please.

4.6 liter V8, and i know there has to be mod's for this engine to get it to be pretty quick. Is that the same engine as the mustang? And even in stock form it makes a lot of torque! A new concept for me :)

So anyhoo... whaddya guys think?

One of my Dad's buddies in high school used to race a '78 Dodge Monaco 4-door with a cop package 440. To quote my dad "That brick would run 13's even with four drunken yahoos passed out in the back seat".

Why do I mention this? Because, beyond the fact that it's a cool quote, it's proof of just what you're asking. The engine is the same as the 'Stang GT so (excepting intake manifolds and headers) all the go fast goodies will fit it.

Now, making it handle.....

on the ex-cop cars they have a lot of suspension work to make sure the cops can keep up with all kinds of cars. should handle pretty well
now i don't know if you were talking about the cop cars but nice handling and a supercharger can't hurt IMO :bigthumb:

my guess the cop cars were probably pushed pretty hard, but go through a lot of maintenence
thats the only downfall i can think of

I hate that, late at night when u see a crown vic rolling up behind you. So you slow down, only to see that its on old man 70-80ish, way past his curfew :swear: . U might get some races from people not watching carefully. Heck, i almost raced an unmarked Impala  , didnt think anything of the wheels, and tints. He got in the right lane and gunned it, was WAY out of reach before I could even downshift. Then I saw his red and blues in his back window. It might not be a bad idea, but you'll certainly piss off quite a few people. I think it'd be cool with a supercharger and the interceptor package. Just make sure you get tints, and pop off the hubcaps :bigthumb:

Well if you want to eat alot of gas, and pay for constant repairs, then i guess buy a Ford. If you want a big ass car, that looks good (crown vic's are ugly), and has balls....get a Bonneville.

That would be one large ass daily driver. If you only have yourself to carry, you should consider something a bit smaller.

there smaler and better looking ( well at least the 1st and 2nd gens... i think the 3rd is hidious) than the crow vic

I think some were actually used for cop cars to.

<----- Anyhooo i say crown vic because i saw one (a cop) take off after some call, and i was actaully quite suprised on how fast that thing moved. I with i could get like a 2000 model though, becasue i think those are the best looking. Oh well.

Hey just wanted to drop a line and say that My friend from church and I both own 2000 white Crown Vic Police Interceptors!!!!! They are the greatest cars I have ever driven. Both of the cars are in awesome shape!!! They are very fast and believe it or not the are great on gas 18/23 as long as your foot isnt made outta lead like mine is :) Soooo having said all that I do recommend a 2000 or newer crown vic PI!!!

I thought crown vic cop cars were modified from the sissy versions they sell to the public....so I assumed there would be an aftermarket to it, but not as easy to find as honda
