Can someone tell me what causes my daughters Lude to surge? It only does it while driving and acts like your letting off and then pressing down on the gas but It doesnt do all the time. the car does seem a bit slugish.

Best educated guess(es), Fuel filter/injector(s) need to be cleaned/replaced...

just thought I'd add, you have there a 1996 **Handa** Prelude? hmm Handa the korean counterpart to Honda? :bigthumb: :icon16:

OK KoRnboy, what can I say other than thanks for catching that error for me.

I had allready changed the filter before she started acting up. I thought it could be the fuel pump going out or maybe the fuel presure regulater. I just hate to start replacing parts that are OK hoping to get lucky.

thinking about it more, it could be water in the gas tank... if it's an older model car, if you have winters there is a good chance some condensation got in your gas tank and once it hits the fuel line it'll cause a surge (because water does not combust :thefinger ). To solve that, run all the gas out, take it to a mechanic they'll put up on the a jack and heat up the fuel tank and burn off the water.

It could be your MAP sensor, or your O2 sensor. Check the ECU for error codes. The MAP sensor doesn't cost that much to replace.. Something like 25 dollars? It could also be the fuel line, or just bad fuel. Could be an air blockage as well.

OK I was going to check for codes but I couldnt find the plug to put my jumper wire on. On a civic its behind the passenger kick pannel. Do you know where it is on a lude? I guess I could take it to a parts store.

Passenger side, under the floor in the front seat. There's an entrace under the carpet.
