Windshield Wipers

I am having a problem with my wipers and any suggestions would be helpful. My car is a 1997 Grand Prix GTP.

To start off, I am the one that created the problem. I was running a vacume line for the boost guage using a snap-on tool im not sure of the name but its pretty much a hollow screw driver that punctures the grommets in firewalls and such and then you can run a wire or whatever through the handle. When I pushed it through a rather large spark made me shit my pants. The gromet is located on the top left side of the steering shaft if looking from the inside of the car. After the incedent I turned my car on to leave and the windshield wipers would not turn off until I pulled the fuse. Also the abs light and the check tire pressure light have come on and I know for a fact that my abs does not work. I have replaced the wiper relay that is behind the fuse panel and it did not help I believe the problem is bigger than just a relay. For now I have bypassed the fuse in the panel and have it hooked up to an aux switch, what is weird is that sometimes it works fine and other times I have to flip the switch(same as pulling the fuse) to turn them off. I have the delay, high low, and when I use my Windshild washing fluid it still times the shutoff.

I am very confused, I still want to think it is just a relay because of it working some of the time but it may be false hope.

Flaterater, you said you work mostly with wiring problems have you had anything like this happen before?

Lots of times I have dealt with owners and other shops messing with the car. Its a challenge fixing them. I suspect that you shorted some wires in the pass thru connector on the firewall. its gonna have to be taken apart and checked. Now it depends on how the wires are at any given time, they could short out and not work right or they could. You have at least 6 wires on your wiper motor not all of them are shorted but maybe only the low speed wire is shorted. Not all shorted wires will blow fuses it depends on where in the circuit is shorted. If it is after a load it will not blow a fuse.

I now have a wiring diagram of the wiper motor and switch setup from gm. I see that there is a second relay, any clue where that is? I have aready looked at the wires and ran a continuity tester along the wires and they seem to be fine but if I didnt seperate the wires enough I could have been getting a false signal from a seperate wire. I guess the next thing will be ripping my dash apart. I was also told by a not so credible source that it could be the switch itself, is that possible?

Oh, what about the ABS and the check tire pressure lights any clue?
