yea, you can mix and match at any time, but to save money, install them all at the same time.

I just want to post up my $.02 about catalytic converters... if anyone says their "cat is clogged" i will call BS. on my 91 hatch, i just cut the cat off to fix my custom exhaust for my LS swap, well, it is the original honda cat, all the bolts are so rusted none will possibly come off. The car was ran for god knows how long with an engine that smoked like it was on fire. If anything would clog it up, it would be a dirty oil burning engine and a couple years of time. Well, anyways, i pulled the cat off, it looks brand new on the inside. fI belive when people talk about their catalytic converter being clogged, they are thikning of old skool v8s and stuff which had a differnt kind of converter than newer cars do.

Replacing your cat with a higher flow one seems reasonable, but removing it because its "clogged" is just an excuse.

i hope you didnt touch or breath in the insides of your cat, its a very harmful catalyst in there.

hey dx dude i pulled this car out of a junkyard w/ an engine that put up soo much smoke that people 3 blocks away could tell i went by and heaven only knows how long it had been doing that so i'm preitty sure i have a clogged cat but i'm bringing it to meineke first thing tomorrow i'm not full of bs that really did happen and i just replaced the engine for that reason.

Wont changing your cat(2 a freer flowing one) make your O2 sensor think that your exhaust is running too cool and make your engine run rich???I bought headers and a 2 1/2 exhaust but dont know what to do with the cat...thanks for the replies

I have 2.5 high flow cat (played with a few different exhausts) with dc header and does NOT run rich. A/F reads lean until I get on it (I heard it's normal cuz Autometer A/F sux) but generally at less than 50% throttle I'm at the S in stoich which I've seen the one with numbers on it and it's at about 11-12 so I figured that's perfect for normal driving. When I do get on it, it's stoich, never rich... maybe my guage just sux. Oh, and where I live there are lots of hills and I hate riding the brakes but I can hear the cat pretty much driving the car (ie. engine does the work at regulating speed). Getting from point A to point B is priority these days... Sorry, my :2cents:
