Mini Cooper S 1967 1000 Lakes

Hello!
This model was a result of long search for pictures of this car. There wasn´t any photos from right side of car or good photos from roof of that car. It took me over a year to find missing puzzles, to start this model. Model is Tamiya Rally Mini and drivers are modified from Fujimi driver set. Those drivers have a good sitting position for a formula car, but they are not fitting to Mini without some surgical operations. Seats needed to be modified just to get right look and to get those figures seated right. Dashboard got some modifications too. I had to draw all decals exept those BMC roses on front fenders. Body is mostly straight from box. I put some extra parts to engine and chasse as you can see. Because I had to open those side windows, I replaced all windows with a little thinner material.

1967 Timo Mäkinen started to SS Ouninpohja with a sponge under bonnet, because He had some over heating problems on previous SS. In some jump that sponge let that leather belt that secured bonnet open, and Timo had to drive half that SS bonnet open. He managed to drive third fastest time for that SS, losing only 19 sec to SS winner but winning 1967 1000 Lakes Rally.

Personally, if I'd been the guy in the left seat in that situation, I'd be holding on to the dash and the roof for dear life, not calmly reading my pace notes! Fantastic job, both on the car and figures...
