H22 will be faster, but if you haven't swapped a motor before, I would suggest going the B series route. And I hope these races you want to win are the track kind.

b series. less problems if its ur first swap.

i'd say consider a b18c1 (even tho its a bit more expensive), but its a bigger displacement then the b16, with VTEC (which is a nice start if u don't have a lot of money for FI).

if u want turbo, go the b18b route.

i'd say either are better then the h22.

b18b is the Ls/nonvtec right?

There is a shop around here that sell them for 700 but with out tranny and I think with out ECu I am not sure about the ecu

anyway If i get this engine what would be the best tranny (best = good but does not cost a 1mill to buy)

and if it does not come with ECU what would be the best ECU to buy

the fastest motor in your car would be the h22, if you left all motors stock and were driving in a straight line. this does not mean its the best swap your car though.

i would suggest the b16a2 for your car, as its a relatively simple swap that will still produce large gains from where you are at now. its also very easy to upgrade that motor later on with the money you saved from not doing a swap with an h series motor.

the b18b would also be a good choice because it is much cheaper and even easier to perform than the b16a2. it wont give you as much of a gain, but will still be noticeably faster. it also lends itself very well to the f/i route if you wanted to go that direction.

is there any particular reason you arent mentioning any b18 motors? the gsr motor is very quick and just as easily modded as the b16. the b18 would be my first pick, but you didnt list it as a possibility.

yes one very good reason money GSR cost alot of money

I am still tryin to work on this deal with the best import shop in town
offer my friend that knows him relly well a gsr swap for 2200 with every thing the whole swap for 2200.

but my friend is tryin to sell that car and I am tryin to get him to hook me up with the swap for 2200

other then that it cost to much thats why I am think I will go with the LS/Non Vtec engine for 700. Just neeed to know what is the best tranny to add to it and what is the best ecu to add to it

why go h23??? non vtec?? get a b16, save ur money a little bit longer, i have a jdm gsr engine an i was gonna get a b16 but for 300 more i might as well. don't pay the extra cash for 10hp unless you really wanna.
save ur cash man, you'll be happy you did. 2200 including the engine DAMN!!!!!!!! a shop around here wanted like 1500 in labor, so i did my swap w/ a couple of friends who did there own swaps. find someone who has done swaps before and have them help you, you'll learn alot even if you don't do alot.

p.s. h22's own, i wish i got one, my friend got all of the parts that he needed plus stage one custom axles for under 3k, and we all put it in an saved on the labor. just something to think about

b18b, w/ the money u save, get a turbo, run 10-12 psi, run high 13's.

that motor sounds like the best option right now for u. its jus a good motor to start w/ for ur 1st swap, because u don't have to rebuild the internals to run double digit psi.

yes, the b16a is nice, but its over-rated. drop a b16 in a coupe, an u have a 99SI, which is a mid-low 15 second car. the b18b is ur best motor for the money in the case.

If your getting an LS, also get the LS tranny and ECU. You don't want to mix the non-vtec LS with a Vtec GSR ecu. Besides, for Turbo'd apps, they LS tranny is perfact. For the money, go LS (and make sure it's for the whole swap, engine, tranny, ecu). I have an LS in my Civic, which came as a 92 DX. A very noticable difference. You'll be please. I like the 1.8 motors better anyway (LS, GSR) because of the extra torque. I found the extra torque especially useful on hills and such. I'd go LS if I were you. It would be fairly affordable now, and increase your power to boot. Once you get around to "modding" it, it's a great engine-tranny combo for Forced Induction (or you can go the LS/Vtec route, or both).
