faint antifreeze smell

I recently purchaced a 09 Silverado with 73,000K and have periodically noticed a faint Antifreeze smell outside the vehicle near the engine when I park it in the garage. I cannot find any leaks and have not added any coolant. It does not smell inside the truck. Could a pinhole leak do this and not easily show up? Any way to test for this. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated before I take truck to get this checked out.

Go to Advance Auto or Advanced Auto and get a loaner pressure tester. Pump it up to around 12 psi use a flashlight and look for leaks. Look closely at the weep hole on the water pump. Look for anti freeze deposits as sometimes these will drip and stop for a couple of weeks before going out completely. Look at heater hose connections as they will sometimes leak. Look at coolant hoses and radiator seams.

don't know what engine but the water pump gaskets do leak like this and hard to see any fluid drips. use the coolant dye . then with a black light see if you can locate the leak. I would re-torque the water pump bolts. check the thermostat housing also .
