if its not one thing its another lol, i have a 2003 Pontiac Gran Am GT 3.4 and i just noticed yesterday when i start my car now it sounds like i have one lifter that is fairly loud, it goes away about 10 minutes after its running. It did it for the first time when we were at the inlaws yesterday, after a few hours of sitting i went out to warm the car up and heard it. Then in the evening after sitting for a few hours i went out to warm it up and did it again. is it possible to be dirty and need something ran though the engine like seafoam?
any advise is great to have!! tahnk you

Yikes how is the ice up there, we just missed down here in Lk George. You could try some Seafoam, also if you have heavier oil in the engine that can cause this in cold weather.Don't leave the Seafoam til the next oil change, run it maybe 200 miles when the engine is fully warmed up, not short trips. If it persists you will have to take a valve cover off to pin it down.

We did not get it to bad up here, we did get about 4 inches of sleet tho, that was fun shoveling lol , just went out a bit ago and its coming from the back head, sounds only like just one lifter to me, went away about 10 minutes after running. So your saying if i put the seafoam in i have to drive it and then take out. Do not leave it in for a few days until i hit 200 miles? If thats what your saying i guess i will have to make a trip down I-87 to Schroon Lake exit and back lol
Since lifters do not seem hard to change in these cars, i may buy a set and change them all this summer and do a LIM gasket replacement at the same time.
