convertable civic?!?

has any body ever heard of anyone cutting the top off of a civichatch, civic, or crx? ive been thinking about it and wanna know were to find some pics. it would be a good sunny day car since it sucks to take my coldair out in the rain.

i saw an accord chop top, w/ a bmx front and a benz rear, it was pretty nasty. but that was a straight show car, ur fucked if you get caught out in the rain. not sure how difficult it would be, i think just cut the top and sides then weld patches in to cover the holes on the door pillars.

I remember seeing another Accord convertible, but they had to put in a roll-cage to hold the car up, cuz the body was too weak to support itself.

There's a reason why there are no convertible Civics or Accords. The structural integrity of the car would be compromised. Unless you install some kind rear cross member I wouldn't do it. The car would collapse in on itself.

rear cross?what will it look like and were should i put it ?[bottom of car,inside,or top(like a roll bar)] were and

If you look at most convertibles there is a more solid bar underneath or right around the passenger seats (or if there are no passenger seats right around that section) to beef up the center of the car.

Take a piece of paper and put two straws where the axels would be and do nothing in the middle of the paper. It will fold in half. Samething would happen with a solid roof car converted into a convertible.
