Just got service engine light on my 2008 Tahoe with82000 5.3L. Is this the gas cap code? Cleared it and am waiting to see if it comes back. Wife said it kicked on after a fill up. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks

P0454 is for the fuel tank pressure sensor. Have replaced several pressure sensors for this code, none have come back on. Not saying that is for sure what is wrong with yours, just what I have run into.

the problem is the pressure transducer is creating an intermittent signal to the PCM.
corroded connectors or the in tank sensor. this is an example of what one owner had done at THE DEALERSHIP ..
I have a 2009 Silverado Crew Cab LS 5.3L with a check engine lt on again for the third time since March 8, 2010. First it was a P0454, where the dealership replaced the fuel tank pressure sensor because it was severely corroded. The mileage was 31,971. The next time the check engine light came on was July 4, 2011. This time a code P0449 came up. The dealership said the fuel tank vent solenoid was not venting and they needed to install a new vent solenoid (http://viglink.pgpartner.com/mrdr.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fviglink.pgpartner.com%2F search.php%2Fform_keyword%3Dvent%2Bsolenoid&mode=) kit. was 69,532 this time and this was not covered under the emissions warranty nor the power train warranty. I was a little ticked since this was an emissions code. Needless to say I paid them to replace it, $481.22 later. Not a week goes by and the light comes on again(July 17, 2011). This time a P0442 code comes up saying there is a small leak in the EVAP System. I am checking the work done by the dealership and will let you know the outcome. Obviously GM has a big problem with their fuel venting systems on various makes and models. I am a loyal Chevy Man but getting very frustrated with these problems on a truck that's not even 2 1/2 years old yet.
