whats up guys...

im in the process of lookin for a car ... dont have a clue what to look for need some ideas

and it really needs to be under like 6 to 8 K$

im lookin into a tegra but everyone and their mom has one a' them so i dun know about that but some ideas would be appriciated*i cant spell*

i recently asked a similar question.

for good handeling/cournering cars theres the nissan 240sx and the toyota MR2 turbo or jsut the MR2.

Faster american cars, that are good for weekend racing etc. are the mustang 5.0 and 90's firebirds or camaros.

theres is also the eclipse GSX and the talon TSi. There basically the same car and there pretty fast and AWD so should be good in turns.

Theres allot of options out there it depends what you like.

If you want a car to slap stickers and a big wing on (and dont forget the type R badges) then go with a CRX or Del Sol.

Actually i dont know there price but Del Sol vtecs are pretty fast.. you should be able to find one under 8,000.

It really depens what you want you car for but the fact that you posted this thred in the street racing forum i bet you want some speed.

Yup. Hell, I've seen nice condition ones for $4-5000 Canadian.

70's porsche 911 or 80's porsche 944, hell i got my '74 911 and totally resto-ed it for 10grand:bigthumb:

6k for car
4k for restoration
total: 10k for a 1974 porshce, look for a good deal on one with agood paintjob but needs engine work, much easier to rebuild an old engine for cheep than to buy new nice paint in my opionion

get a teg and mod it then you'll have a teg that will kill everyone else stock teg :bigthumb:

Old muscle car that hasnt been fully restored at wasnt super popular. Like a falcon or a Dart or something like that with a big block V8 in it. :smokin:

comin from a rotorhead, i'd say but a nice 2nd gen rx-7. maybe a TII if you want a turbo with it. i also like the idea of an mr2 or 240sx.

actually if you want a very original car, your mechanicaly able, and your state doesnt have high emmision testings. Go with the 240sx and swap in a sr20det. This swap is becoming more and more popular, and ive been told is teh only hard part is the wireing. The sr20det is the nissian silvia motor. The silvia is basicaly the most modded car in Japan so there is things you can do to it after you do the swap..

The reason this swap is so good is the 240sx is a RWD car with basically 50/50 weight management. So it can take courners fast, and is good for drifting. When you swap teh motor in i belive it runs 14's stock. Turn up the boost, headers intake, hi flow cat, pulleys camshaft etc. and you sould have a hell of a car. Quite original to. If you do teh work yourself you can proboly do this swap for under 9,000.

in my opinion integras right now are overpriced. Everyone wants a acura or a honda right now. They arent even the best cars for weekend racing because the FWD and all the mod orice's are getting raised because there so popular. You could get a cheaper car have more money to mod it and again in my opinion it would be allot better than a integra.

But if you do have your hear set on a honda or acura i would get the prelude vtec or the del sol vtec

as for the 240sx also a good route.. but the 240sx is a drift car not a 1\4 mile.. and also you dont need to swap in a sr20det to make it go fast you can turbo the ka24de already in it.. that to is also a good motor..

by the way high octane the sr20det swap can be done for as low as 5'g with a s-13 red top..

please stay away fome a integra be different..

of course you an find a 240 laying around without an engine for about $500 or less

oh i see i see... i said 8-9,000 for a good car and the swap... some places you can get the engion for 2,000$

ive checked out a couple a' TSI's pretty clean in my opinion.. and NO ONE has em' round my parts so i might look into one'a them i dun know ill find out what car im gettin when i have the scrill to put out.... thanks for the help fellas ....

since its a bit pointless to buy a Mustang GT i mean its got alot less power than either of those two mentioned above.

as of now i know i cant beat shit .... my car is completely stock ... Canada doesnt really have the parts i need ... everything has been ordered and is getting shipped from the US and when my car is modded up ... i project i will be doing mid 9s ... i will be gradually adding to this and plan by the same time next year to be doing mid 8s ... id like to see an import do 8 seconds with under 90 grand ... including the car + all mods

I've seen it done, extreem boi. The Puerto Rico import drag scene is crawling with low budget, high speed cars.

Easy formula for a 8second import.

Take one Mazda R1100/RX-3: approx $500-$1000
Narrowed Backhalf kit from Freeman Chassis: approx $1200
Imported twin-turbo 20b three row rotary: approx $3000
porting, fresh Garrets and intercoolers, new racing apex seals, blow-off valves, and massive Apex'i injectors: approx $20,000
eight-point rollcage: $400 if welded by yourself
Draglite front wheels, Dragstar rear wheels, and M/T racing rubber (including 10.5inch slicks): $7000
Fiberglass hood and fenders: $2000
racing seat and harness: $300
Lenco four-speed planetary transmission: approx $5000

Total: $39,900.

This combo will run 9's in shakedown and 8's with a bit of tuning and tweaking. The trick is it will be a BITCH to drive because it'll yank the wheels like crazy and twitch around under shifting.

As for street drivability, it could be built into the car with a bit more of an investment. Notice, I didn't factor in paint, upholstery, tunes, trim, or anything not related to making the car get down the quarter mile.

Yeah, you'd need a bunch of cash to make an 8 second daily driver. They weren't even pulling that off in the heyday of Pro Street with guys like Danny Scott. It took him a nitroused Gianino 543ci big block to make his fat-fendered backhalved 1967 Camaro run 8.15ets. And the car was only barely street legal, let alone drivable. But it sure looked cool.

if u want a crazy car .... go out of state steel a nice car thats not being used at the time i.e people are on vacation .... i garage for winter ... ne of those will do .... drive it back to where u live ... dont speed too much so u dont get stopped .... then put 10 grand into finding a way to register it ... alot of brides and illegal shit ... but i can get done

so for 10 grand u have a sick car .... and if u decide to spend another 10 crand modding it .... :biggrin: :bananadie :pimp:
