Seems a little high. But then again, I just bought a 92 with 101,000
If the price is right I wouldn't worry too much about the miles if the rest of the car is clean. One reason I bought mine was the fact that sooooo many of the GM 3800 engines routinely have 150,000 - 200,000 miles on 'em.

I got a park avenue Ultra, SC 3.8, 143000 miles, only on its second supercharger. The first owner replaced it around 90000, if I'm not mistaken. You got to change the SC oil, but that doesnt apply in your case. The 3800 is a great engine.

I owned a '92 Buick LeSabre and she went over 200k miles before the transmission died and the last 30k miles the tranny mounts were busted from an accident. I loved that car I hated to see it go :-( But two years later I finally have another buick my new '96 Rivera (long live the Series II 3800).

Get a Grand National, you wont find to many high mileage GN's around if any. And it's a great performance car.

I take it with 88k you mean kilometers? In that case there is only 50000 miles on it. I would say that you have average mileage for that year of car. My 98 Lesabre has 116000 kilometers (kms). Feels like it is just broken in - well after I did a full tune up, wires, plugs, fuel filter etc...:)

115,869miles as of today on my '96 Riv. If you don't torture them the 3800 engines will go almost forever (I have heard of them over 350,000)

My 1990 LeSabre has 32,000 on it now. It had 23,000 when I got in in June (from an estate, old ladys car). I am looking forward to at least 100,000 more miles in it. :)

1988 LeSabre had 14,000 miles when I got it 9 years ago, has 145,000 now...nothing too major has happened mechanically, basically normal wear stuff.
1990 LeSabre 68,000 miles runs great!! eBay purchase
1987 Buick Regal Turbo - 17,000 original miles Needs a new rear main seal. Not looking forward to that task!

My '91 LeSabre is OBD 1. I'm building an ALDL to RS232 interface for my personal computer and am looking forward to using the CarBytes software with it.

The miles are excellent for a car that is 6 years old. I have a 2004 Pontiac GrandAm with 45,000 on it. I bought it new. I also have a 1988 Buick LeSabre coupe with 124,000 miles on it. Milage is nothing though, it is all in how the car has been treated. Hope this helps!

The original poster asked whether the vehicle in question had high miles. Seeing as the original post was 2003, that made the vehicle 5 years old at the time. The average miles per year was 17,600. The industry standard that some businesses use, (insurance for rating info, and lease companies, etc.) is 12 to 15,000 miles /yr. So by using that info it would appear that the vehicle was on the high side of average at that time. ( I see some lease companies are starting to use a 10,000 miles/yr standard for their leases.)
