FPM models have been adding alot of 1/24th scale resin model kits to their long list. The quality is very good with casting that is truly amazing. They do both sportscars and F1 kits. They are doing older cars that have never been done in larger scales before, and some that have only been done in very poor quality kits. Fernando Pinto has an eye for the cars shape and most have nice motors. The casting will amaze you!!

Here are the cars he has planned for late 2013 and early 2014...He is very busy. Fernando also does Bizarre 1/43rd models.

New 1/24th scale kits for late 2013 and early 2014. Check ebay for listings as he sells direct.

Both the 1931 and 1932 Alfa Romeo 2300 Lemans winners are out. This company makes the best hand laced wire wheels I have found in a kit.

Great old school resin castings with metal molded into the resin when required.

Fernando Pinto is a great guy and a good friend of mine. I saw him, long time ago - in 1992, I guess - beginning this series of F1 classic Ferraris, at an exposition, here in Portugal. We became friends since then. I don't see him for some years, now (since he went to China, to be a modeller for IXO and other labels).

Nice to know he's still alive and kicking. And keeping a great job.

I have met Fernando Pinto at his home in Gaia, Portugal (in front of Porto, the other side of the Douro river) in September 2014.

He is a real gentleman. Beside being a very good modeler, he is also willing to respond (when he can) to some needs encountered by his customers during the building of his models.

You can follow Fernando's work (and see some buildings by his customers) searching on the Web `Fernando Pinto Models`Facebook page.

1960 Cooper F1 Champion and Indy version are due out any time now in 1/24th scale. He has alot planned for 2015. I just finished up his F1 Ferrari 625 Monte Carlo winner and 1932 Alfa 2.3 Lemans winner. Fantastic details, but they did have alot of air bubbles partly because his molds are so complicated. The Alfa's wire wheels are amazing, best I have seen in a 1930's race car kit ever!!

I have seen the body prototype of this car in his Facebook page, it looks magnificent and beautiful. I contacted Mr. Pinto and he very kindly told me it will be available in about a month or two if everything goes according to plan, I will be ordering one of these...or maybe even two, I like that racecar very much and Mr. Pinto have made a superb scale representation of it.

And a big Thanks to F1 Tommy, thanks to you and your photo previewsI found out about this great gentleman scale offerings.

FPPM is really putting out some nice 1/24th resin model kits this year. So far they are doing the Lemans, Targa Florio and coming soon the #55 Pan Am Porsche 550. They are also doing the first Ferrari ever, the Avio 815. They have just announced that they are doing the Ferrari 250 GT SWB Bertone, a car considered by many to be one of the best looking street Ferrari's ever.

The FPPM Porsche 550 1954 Pan Americana car #55 is out in 1/24th scale and it looks wonderful. Finally a good 1954 Porsche 550 race version. They will do the Lemans version soon along with Pan Am car #58, the VW distributor sponsored Porsche 550.

Also FPPM will do the 1978 Ferrari 312 T3 and 1979 312 T4 GP cars in 1/24th scale early next year.

The twin supercharged 1939 Auto Union GP car is also out along with the AVIO 815(Ferrari). Next up is the Alfa Romeo 1924 P2 GP car all in 1/24th scale.

I love the models Fernando Pinto is doing for FPPM. He has a great eye for making them look like the real cars. The Ferrari 315/335 1957 is a perfect example. MFH Hiro could not correctly capture the 1957 last Mille Miglia winner #0684 in 1/12th scale but FPPM nailed it in 1/24th scale. Most accurate model of the 1957 Mille Miglia winner ever made in any scale is the FPPM.

No, he only sells direct or on ebay direct. I think that helps cut down costs with no middle man. Still can't figure out how he does the kits with hand laced wire wheels so cheap. Crazycar on ebay.

By they way for those who knew them or bought their kits, both Paul Fisher and Joe from Quick Skins models made it out of Paradise California ok, but they lost everything. I am sure Paul will be back.

Thanks Tom.
I don't like the window frames at all, especially the windshield, where the place for a thin metal frame is indented on the body, making it both fragile, and just plain wrong.

Also, attaching clear acetate to a piece of curved stainless steel/brass is a nightmare and never looks right. Fernando, who did masters for these models for years should know better.

You are intitled to your opinions but I don't agree with you at all. Window frames may not be 100% correct but everybody who makes high end models does it this way for a reason. It looks much better when completed. Much better than bare metal foil. You could fabricate metal frames to make them 3 dimensional but putting foil on them looks terrible. Even my Russian high end model builder friends don't agree with you and I know a few who do it for a living.

You do nice work, don't get me wrong but you build other peoples kits. I am referring to companies that do their own resin models from scratch. BBR, Tecnomodel, MR collection, EMC/Pivtorak and B&G ect all use photoetch windows in both 1/43rd and 1/18th. Top Marque, GP Replicas, BBR, OTTO ect even use on 1/12th models.

Tom, regardless of what others do, flat photoetched window frames are not correct and not easy to work with. They look like stickers.

Foil or no foil (there are nice chrome paints nowadays that you can use if you don't like foil), but these window frames are 3D on real cars, they are not flat. And they are definitely not THIS wide, they are much thinner too. These PE parts look to be what, 1.5-2mm? That's almost 2 inches wide on a real car!

I'm sure its easier to make, and that is why its still being done that way. Its still a great kit and I will definitely get one as this is one of my favorite Ferraris. But accuracy is what makes scale models - "scale models".

Time for another FPPM update. Their next F1 1/24th model kit will be the Mercedes Benz W196 1954 envelope aero French GP winner. It will be full detail and out in a few months. His 1/24th Ferrari 312T4 1979 full detail kit is already out.

Not sure if anyone noticed but Hachette are running a newstand F1 1/24th diecast series in Italy right now. Here is a blog in Italy showing some of the models. These go with the 1/24th FPPM F1 models very well and are good enough to base a high detailed model from. Top quality diecasts.
