K2500 Intricate issues

Hello all, I have a very specific set of issues that I have and am quite perplexed.

I have a Chevy K2500 Ext. Cab. Long Bed 4X4 with a 5.7L V8.

From the research I've done, it has the 4L80E Tranny. It was a very limited run, research transmission.

It has done me a great deal time and I was super happy with. I had an issue with my engine at about 253,000 miles and I wanted to(and never fully succeeded) running it into the ground. I eventually bought a crate engine from Laura Buick, out of Illinois (I'm from south Florida, and Laura was far cheaper then buying it locally.). After pulling the top half of the engine apart I sent it to a local "Mechanic". I didn't have time to do it myself or I would have and wished I had. Once there they took 3 weeks to do the job. In the process they discovered my Radiator was "Bad" so I approved a replacement. and they broke the Highside connector on my A/C but they fixed it by converting it from R12 to R134. That didn't fly with me.

On my way to the house, 2.3 miles away, my tranny was slipping. It got so bad that when I got home it was in limp-mode. I promptly called the mechanic and asked them WTF? They told me that the high-torque of the new motor shot the tranny. ( I called BS ). I checked the tranny and the fluid was 3 qt. low. I called them back to inquire about their radiator change-out process and they told me it was a helper that did the job. I informed them it was 3 qts low and they blamed it on the helper and to take it back.
They started to barrade the helper so I told them not to worry about it, I would take it to a tranny shop. I left by saying that it was their shop and their job is to ENSURE the job is done RIGHT. Blaming a helper isn't going to win bonus points.

I took my truck to a local tranny shop and predictably they said it needed a full overhaul. Whatever, new engine? I may as well have a like new tranny right? WRONGGGGG!!!!!!!

On the way home the tranny was going the normal 75mph @ 1750rpm. The next day I was going further and it was going as normal and it dropped from 5th to 3rd. I pulled to the side and turned it off and went again. No problem for 5 miles and the same.
It was like that for about a month (Yes, I took it back a few times and they assured me it was a "Stuck solenoid that would work itself out". I eventually got sick of fucking with it so I parked it for 5 years, now it is in limp-mode all the way. Reverse, first and second but nothing after that.

Does this sound like a solenoid or brain problem?

Thanks,
Joshua.

first what year and mileage on this ?

lets say you have a 1995 with 200,000miles on it .the engine wear and transmission failures you had are common.

the transmission requires frequent fluid filter replacing. how often it this done ?

if you replace the fluid filter every 80,000miles or more with the 200,000miles then the transmission needs to be rebuilt. the dexron III fluid turns to acid after 30,000miles ,and then the valve bodies get eroded. the solenoid's can stick but if the bore is eaten you get low pressures and high revs erratic shifts.
