96 accord speedo and cruise don't always work

most of the time my speedometer isn't working. my cruise control works the same way. i've read that it could be the cruise control module or the variable speed relay. where do i start.

If both speedometer and cruise control do not work I would start with the speed sensor. We have few threads here on locating and replacing it.

Search for VSS.
