left lights keep blowing out

has anyone had this very problem with their 1999 g20? my left front headlights keep blowing out when i put in piaa super whites. they blew out after 7 months. this has happened twice. please advise what i can do to remedy this. thank you.

For some reason I don't think its the car or the headlight assembly or whatever...I think its the bulb itself, you can't expect any aftermarket bulb to last as long as a OEM bulb, they just weren't designed that way, and OEM bulbs are designed to last. So if you want long lasting bulbs, go OEM or a plain one from your local parts store, but for a colored appearance of course you'd have to get a aftermarket bulb. and 7 months to be honest is pretty good for any aftermarket bulb, I've got the Hyper Industries bulbs and I'm going on 4 months right now, so cross your fingers :D

Thanks for your reply. Before these piaa that i bought, I had razo which went for 3 months and raybrigs which went out after 3 months. i was pretty pissed. but i guess ithought it was because each time the lights went out on the left side first. anyways, hope yours lasts as long as mine did.

hey have you ever put on aftermarket fog lights? if so, how did you put the brackets on the bumper (if oem) and how were you able to put in the wiring into the car. i want to put the switch below the odometer but i can seem to find the place where i can run the wire from the engine bay into the car.

I'm not for sure on this one, only b/c my model came with fog lights from the factory. But as for wiring from the engine bay to the interior, I would look for a place where your OEM wires are running through and run it along with those wires. or if you got a little balls you can drill a hole through your firewall but I'd take the latter :) only b/c thats what I've done before on my old car. As for mounting it, I'm guessing you can just screw them into your bumper where you would like them, and for extra protection use some double-sided tape under the mounting brackets to keep it in place while your screwing it in. I found that you can run the wiring through the inner guard.
At the front of the drivers door you can run a wire(s) though between the 2 skins of the inner/outer panel which will bring the wire out at the front of the engine bay by the head lights,(there a big holes already there in the inner skin), then run the wire to where ever you want to go with it. It takes a bit of mucking around but it saves drilling a extra hole etc at the fire wall....and you dont see the wires !!!
At the door,remove the seal that holds all the wiring for you electric windows etc and put your new wire(s) in with the rest of the wiring loom already there on the front piller....poke it though and it comes out inside the car.

what was the wattage on the bulbs you were using? did you make sure you didn't touch the bulb when installing them?

Of course not.....I even used rubber gloves....the wattage was 12v85/80w----->130/100w....Hiper Industries Super Plasma Xenon bubls....check your mail Mythos....

I think your wattage is too high, a friend of mine is using 80W on his maxima - he claims that our wires can handle 80W of power, but, bboggie mentioned before that the plastic connectors can't handle more than 60W

Funny my Catz left front blew out first after 7 months. I've replaced them with the same ..but a newer model and will see which blows up first.

a good tip is before you install the headlights, you should rub the light down with rubbing alcohol, therefore no oil from your hands will get on the bulb and shorten the life of the bulb..:D
