Update Pics: Outlaw Street Stang

couple pics of a little of the work ive done so far.

since this is a street car, has to have speakers. As you see the holes for the 6x9's. Cage is only about 30% done, going to be a full 12-14pt cage.

Cowl hood is made from sheet styrene, .020" thick.

motor is from the 01 Lightning kit (5.4l motor). Will have a custom box intake (with the lower half of the intake in the picture), custom turbo setup, with custom FMIC and piping.

Now to just find the turbo so i can start putting the motor together.

damn thats a big cowl hood... :eek: what is that mustang based on? The Revell '93 Cobra?

yeah. I actually still have the cobra wheels on the tree, in perfect shape.

The original cowl i made was even bigger, this one just barely clears the intake im making for it (box upper). I might actually have to drill a little hole in the top of the cowl, to clear the piping from the IC to the TB.

yeah!

so it has a lightning engine, the lightning already has a supercharger and you are adding a turbo is that possible??

im not using the supercharger setup. Its just going to be a single turbo 5.4l motor.

(intake was made out of half the original intake, and .020" plastic styrene)

turbo manifold was made using a longtube header i cut down, and bent plastic from the parts tree :)

Wow....I've always wanted to see the 5.4L OHC engine in a Mustang....that's what I love about scale modeling....just because somebody won't do it in real life doesn't mean you can't do it in scale.

actually i know of one foxbody (87 LX Coupe) thats getting a 5.4l motor put into it. Gonna be a nitrous motor though.

But there are a couple of SN95 & 99+ mustangs with 5.4 motors.

next work for the motor will be finishing the intake, fuel rails, spark plug wires, custom belt/pulley setup, and wastegate.

whats funny is, i decided to go through my misc junk boxes, and found two different turbos, one a little smaller then the other, so decided to put em both together, to actually look like a real turbo. The worst part about mounting it, was thats the only place i could put it, so it would fit under the hood, and it looks like i might have clearance problem for the lower pulley with the other headers & piping being run to the turbo.

Nice scratch building here! Awesome 5.4 93 Mustang here my friend! I hope you get to fit the turbo in alright, I had big fitment problems with my Civintegra.

You should mount the turbo in the front so it goes thru the front of the car wen the nose is on...like the drag cars do

i thought about that, but there would be no place for the radiator. Remember, im building this as a street car (will have a system, amp, 18's or 20's (dont know what size they are?), etc.)

I did change around the turbo setup though...here is the final placement for the turbo..

thanks. This is the first model ive built in over a year, and hoping it comes out real nice (which IMO it already is).

After this, there will be a matching mustang, but a 94+ mustang with a twin turbo 302, and setup for drag (slicks & skinnys, custom 4link suspension, etc.)

i dont know what wheels they are, or what kit they are from. All i know, is its from some Curbside kit that i bought a long time ago.

i had them on a Chevy truck (some snaptite kit) and it looked sweet. But i decided to put skinnys & slicks on it, so i had these wheels laying around. If i had a nicer set of wheels, id use them, but now i like the look of the car with these wheels, so im gonna keep them.


Just making it like a nice street car, with some nice size wheels. Like a friend of mine w/ supercharged 01 cobra w/ 18's (478rwhp) and a friend with a Buick T-type on 20's (500+rwhp)

Color is: Dupli-Kolor "Hot Rod Green".

Thats a really cool color, Cant wait to see it assembled now

the parts that will be the same color are:

Valve Covors
Cage
Frame
Brake Calipers
Trim around the subs & 6x9's


The only thing i now regret doing, is painting the body, because i need to drill two holes in the firewall, to run the piping from the throttle body to the intercooler, but hopefully drilling the holes wont chip the paint.

Here are some updated pics of the interior. Speakers still need to be painted, and im probably gonna end up putting "leather" material down in the back and on the floor in the front.

i like the color, just it looks like the paint is on too thick and seems like some of the detail is gone, but it just might be the pics :biggrin:

What a weapon! Never seen a Mustang model look that good! You should get some chrome paint to do those wheels in, make them look like real dubs! Thats the only suggestion I can say about it. Hope it's finished soon.

No, the paint isnt thick... when i sanded down the body after primering, I took the lines out.

Maybe its just me, but i like the look of the body being real sleek, like a door slammer, so it not having the body lines and cracks for the doors, really doesnt bother me.

Remember, always supose to build a model to YOUR likings ;)

I would definetely do that, if i had the paint, or knew where i could get the paint. I was thinking about having them send out to be chromed.

You have any pics of things painted in the chrome paint i could check out? And the name of it?

:( I know. I wanted to paint it orange, but when i went to Discount, they didnt have any orange, and didnt feel like driving to Pep Boys :rolleyes: So i got the green.

You should be able to pick up some Chrome spraypaint in a hardware, I don't know if you can in the states but you can here. I don't have any pictures of things sprayed with chrome, I don't know the name of the brands you got over there either, just check around.
