Well, this family I babysit for has these two boys, and i guess they're interested in starting this hobby, but the only thing is, that i doubt they will have the money, or parents woud want to spend the money, that most people do on here.... I'm thinkinn, that i might be able to convince them to get a cheap revell kit, and i will fight, to get them some tamiya sprays. I HOPE THIS WORKS, because it would be fun to teach someone how to make models, and especially if im gettin paid while i do so!, I start on monday, so wish me luck, and maybe you'll have some more "NEWBS" running around AF...
also, for a first kit, cheap? revell?, AMT? whats a suggestion for a first great kit...... What bout Snap togethers (step 1's)????

Ditto, for a first touch I would go for Tamiya. A newb in my club has done his first car , Tamiya 350Z.
He got a brilliant result on it only using 3 different brushes and 3 Tamiya spray cans.
If they cant' pay for paints, at least you can prepare a "toolbox" with your tools and paints. You can bring it there when you do babysitting.
Good luck professor

yes, but most peopless first models tend to look like poopies, so, you might as well nto waste 25-30$ on a good one, insetead of 10-15 right?

Stick with tamiya for the first try.
Doesn't have to be the newest or hottest kits in recent years
could be the ones that were issued a few years before.
Usually they don't run over 30 bucks for these kinds of things in my local hobby shop
(CAD $20 for Tamiya Super 7, $25 for Tamiya NSX and so on )
Tho older kits don't come with window masking tapes or clear-colored plastic which would make the job a little bit harder.

I agree with the idea of doing Revel level 1. That is what my Dad bought me when I was that age, and I wasn't very concearned with parts having fit problems. At that age I was overwealmed with joy at having built something. My imagination filled in all the gaps in the body and flaws in the paint. Heck, half of my cars had a three point stance ( one wheel didn't touch the ground) untill I was about your age
