i just had a little car adventure tonite, unrealed to my crx but still here goes

me and my friend jesse went to this guy we knows house cause he had an old crapalier (like88 i think) parked at his house. it wasn't going anywhere, we tryed starting it and it wouldn't turn over at all, it made a clicking noise like my old tempo would when i left my lights on. i said to the guys its obviously the battery or the alternator. so we take the guys dads car next to it so we can giver a boost and the guys dad comes storming outta the house getting all pissed off at me and jesse saying were going to fuck his car up to if we use it to boost. the guys dad tells him to get the battery charger outta the garage and tells us never to charge on car with another. so i figure the kid is an idiot for not bringing out the charger inthe first place. we charge it up and it starts to turn over a little more but it still won't get to the point of fireing up. the battery is a 60month with only about a year on it and the alternator is a good 4 years old at least. my guess from the begining was that it is the alternators fault. as we try turning it over again it struggles and struggles then dies out. if anyone knows if it might be anything besides the alternator i'd appreciate the help. this guys dad was a total fucking prick the hole time, i never met him and he's getting in my face like i'm an idiot. :biggrin2: anyway, this leads me to belive in order to get your licence you should be forced to go thru a basic car maintance and education program, i wish i had gone thru one, i would have known how to better take car of my tempo, instead of learning the hard way.
anyway, thats my bitch for the nite.

:iceslolan reminds me of when i had my nx2000......the batter went dead for some reasone, so i went to autozone to have the battery and altenator tested. the conclusion was that it was the battery. so the next day i'm driving home and the car cuts off. had to get a jump b/c the battery was drained...went back to autozone and was about to have them retest the altenator when i made a startling discovery.... my alternator belt was so worn that it wasn't able to charge my battery back up, so the car was runnin on the power from the battery and not the alt:bloated:

never trust autozone.. My wife has a 2000 neon, and one day it wouldn't start. I jump started it (even though you're not supposed to jump start a newer car for some reason, never hurt it though  )

anyways, i went to autozone and had them hook up a tester to it to see if it was the alternator or the battery. well the guy tests it and the conversation goes like this:

autozone guy: "well your battery is putting out 8 volts which is normal ( ), and your alternator is good. Must be the starter"

me: "uh, it starts when i jumpstart it, if it was the starter it wouldn't start at all" ( again)

autozone guy: "the reason for that is because when you jumpstart it, its bridging the two batterys and requiring 2 12 volt loads, 24 volts to start, the starter is bad"

me "uh wahtever man"

I leave, go to walmart and buy a new battery. runs fine.

moral of story: Autozone hires mentally handicapped people. :biggrin2:

Yeah, i've noticed places like autozone and advance auto don't know what there talking about, don't rely on them, they even get me wrong parts half the time.
