I have a 1999 civic si with the obd2 of corse. People have told me to get the obd1. I looked around and what is the p28 and p30 and so on? Where can I find a obd1 ecu and what is the best one to get for my car? Sorry for such a noob question, I look in the search and didn't find what I was looking for.

Thanks
David

P28= OBD I SOHC VTEC ECU which can be chipped to run a B16A
P30= OBD I B16A ECU

I don't know about where you live, but I know here, if your car is a year that came with an OBD-2 ecu, they car is tested at DEQ using the OBD-2 test set-up. As a result, swapping in a OBD-1 ecu to an OBD-2 equipped car will result in an OBD-1 car, which is illegal, since the car that comes OBD-2 must stay OBD-2. You would fail the emissons test based on that. I don't know if it's the same where you are, but I'd check into that first. YOu don't wanna spend all that $$, then get screwed at the emissons testing facility. I suspect that it is techincally against the law there also to make an OBD-2 equipped car OBD-1. I know that for the OBD-2 tests over here, you don't even run your car throughm they can tell somehow off the ecu or something. With OBD-1, you have to run the expanded test (or is called something simliar). So they can easliy tell if you've messed with that, since the OBD-2 test would no longer work. I just thought I'd pass this thought along. If you can do it legally there, more power to you.

Thank you for telling me that, I had no clue. I live in Arkansa and they don't do emisson tests. But I will keep my obd2 just in case.

Does anyone know where I can get one other than ebay?

thanks
David
