I have a 12volt 1.4 watt bulb in my car that lights the P, R, D4, D3, 2, 1 right next to the shifter, in between the front seats. I have found that if I replace that bulb with a brighter light source, the green/blue glow changes to a very attractive blue. However, the only way I have accomplished this so far has been to use a fiber optic extention of my AA Maglite, which is obviously only a temporary solution. What do I need to do in order to increase the brilliance of the bulb that already exists? Can I get another bulb that will shine brighter and remain the same size? Here is a link to the bulb diagram (http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=Accord&catcgry2=1990&catcgry3=2DR+LX&catcgry4=KA4AT&catcgry5=SELECT+LEVER) . Look for item 3 (Product 15853) in the diagram.
In the next hour or so I will post a picture of the lighting so you can see what I am talking about

I guess that if you change it for a brighter bulb you'l also get a lot more heat, perhaps it is better to buy a mini neon stick from ex. street glow and install that in there instead?
Good luck!
