Okay, I've got a friend who bought a '96 Civic Ex, and this list also:

DC Sport 2 pc headers
Cold air intake

He has 20K to put into his car, and wants to know what brand and products to get to make his car an all go no show. He knows some about cars and engines, but not about the best brands and products. Also, it's a manual and he wants to know if it can handle the power that he wants.

well what is planning to do to it?

forced induction, all motor?

street or drag, auto cross, or all around?

and yes his manual will hold up.

He's supposed to race some guy in a couple of weeks and he wants to be fast, but no nos. Turbo, engine mods, body mods, basically everything. He already has the body mods, he's working on the engine now. Anything else you need to know about the car.

I don't think he wants to. I asked him about that and he was kinda skeptical and said, "I can't do that to the engine I have?" I told him he could, but he won't be as fast as he could be.

well if he aint gonna swap there are turbo kits available for his motor, he can buy a kit, then do the internals, like pistons, valvetrain, etc and have a very fast car.

Any suggestions about who to go through, what brands to get, what mods will go better with his car?

HKS, Greddy, Thermal, Tanabe, AEM, all of the big boys out there, there is a ton of shit available for his car, stick to some well known barnds and you wont have any problems.

Sweet, thanks man. Maybe if you could list some specific parts and models that would be great, but if not that's cool.

20K!!!20K!!! Man I would throw in a S2000 or NSX motor and make it rear wheel drive if it was possible for a civic. If you could pull that off it would be an all go car. I'm not sure if those engines mount up the same though.

He has 20K to spend? I would swap engines for starters. Thats A LOT of money to spend, and he can make a very fast car for that. Put in a B16, or even an LS (or make the LS an LS/Vtec) or GSR. Close the deck, new cams, cam gears, new pistions (if he gets a GSR, make sure to lower the comp. ratio), rods, valve springs, retainers. A nice port and polish, a 3-angle vavle job, etc. Basically build up the internals nice and strong to handle lots of boost. The build a turbo kit with a big turbo, and boost it at like 20-24psi (the engine should hold if he's built it correctly). That'll put down a shitload of wheel hp (if done correct to the right engine, over 400), he'll be hella fast. Get a lightweight flywheel, the proper clutch to hold all that power, etc. I'd pull out all the stops. If he is willing to spend 20k on the car, then why build up the EX engine. He can make it fast, but since he has the money, he could swap in a b series motor and make it faster. If he's wants speed and is willing to some of that 20k, that would be my :2cents: on how he could go about it.

oh holy shit i didnt see he has 20k's to spend, cot damn.

id go b20 block with type R head, huge turbo, fully load the engine, 5 angle valve job, hot tanked, blueprint it, etc etc etc.

all mugen outside, candy paint, spoon rims.

ohh man, does ur freind give donations?

i'm with the crx guy on this one tell him to get a b20 then put a gsr head on it some cams a fuel managemnt some head work bore it out and stroke it put in some titanium retaners and vales take it to a shop and have them make it redline at 11k nice 3" exhuast, headers, HKS catback ignition, have jet upgrade the ecu, have the whole bottom end balanced and blue printed intake manifold cam gears he'll probly run like 11's i don't know but he'll probly piss his pants the first time he chirps fifth gear

Soooo... he bought a $12k car (estimate) and now he's going to spend $20k to make it go fast? What's wrong w/ this picture? Like my friend who's always yapping at me about how I want to make an accord go fast, buy an old supra and go from there. :sly:
