computer speakers in a car?

I read a review for Logitech Z-560s (computer speakers) in which someone hooked up their speakers in their car and said their speakers sounded comparable to people w/ $1000 systems. I'm not as vain as this person, but I'm home for the summer from college and I have my Cambridge Soundworks MegaWorks 510D 500W speakers sitting around doing nothing. So I figure, hey, I use a portable CD-Player to listen to CDs in my car anyway... why not try that.

I looked around and found that Power inverters or DC --> AC converters are what i need. I also saw that they have different wattage ratings. What kind of inverter/ DC --> AC adapter would have DC passthrough (to still power my CD player) as well as provide enough juice to power the sub and 2 speakers to give stero sound. Cheap would be good too!

Those are the speakers i have.

Thanks,
David

the secret is out.. yes home speakers sound great in the car the only draw back to this is you have little satellite spkrs chillin on your dash and a powered sub in the trunk. ps when replacing home tower subwoofers replace them with an 8 ohm car audio sub they are perfect........ .. . .... . .

one problem with home speakers is that they are rated for 8 ohms ... meaning they don't pull as much power from an amp. The other one is, as the last guy pointed out, is the difficulty of installing the sattelite boxes somewhere.

well, I bought a 350W power inverter that was supposed to support "Home Audio" and I powered it up when I first got it and it worked and sounded great.

4 hours later after I got off work, the damn thing starts beeping at me. "Overload low battery" light is flashing and stops as soon as I turn off the speaker's power switch..... I'm confused. Is my battery too drained? (the car started fine)
