Hi,
This is a very stupid question but how do u properly burn out with a manual transmission car. Like right before you line up at the track light?

pull ur E-Brake, put it in 1st, have ur clutch pedal all the way down, and then rev untill about 6500 or so, and just let go on the clutch and dont let the smoke get to you!

Unless you have slicks to warm up then don't bother. But to burn out you shift the car to 1st and with the clutch in rev as high as you can then let the clutch out as fast as you can. Than supposing you didn't just destroy your tranny or clutch then you will hear squeeling tires and probably have mad wheel hop.

Here is a video of how it's done. :)

And no, I didnt destroy my tranny, clutch, axles, or have mad wheel hop. Oh, and you probably wont sit still for it either.

Right foot - toes on brake - side of foot or heel on the gas
Left foot - clutch
With a low powered car the e-brake it a huge help
Rev high enough break the tire loose appyling just enough brake & pop the clutch out, then move your left foot to the brake & jam on the gas with the right. Go back to the heel/toe style to hit 2nd gear!!
This not the best thing you could to your car, but its fun:icon16:
I hit all 6th gears doing a burn-out on my bike

omg, yall have to be joking. that is the WORST thing you can ever do to your tranny, the WORST! my god, cant believe yall can still drive with the trannies you have. if you wanna burnout, rev to about 2k, slowly let the clutch out to where the car BARELY begins to roll, then step on the gas and THEN let the clutch out. if you just rev to 6k and dump the clutch, you WILL and i repeat WILL fork up your tranny/axles. there is a small amount of play in everything, and if you do shit like that you WILL strip shit out. but like FourthGenHatch said warming up the tires is pointless unless you have slicks. otherwise its purely for show.

the point is DO NOT drop/pop the clutch out, you still have to ease the clutch out, just more gas. dropping the clutch is stupid, and it will screw your shit up.

I drive a Civic, why the hell do I need to do a burn-out? Feather the gas to loose wheel hop.
The original question was from a SOHC 1.5L car, good luck breaking the tires loose @ 2k slowly letting the clutch out

Exactly since street compound is too hard to ever soften up from just a burnout. My tranny runs smooth as hell, I have yet to burnout on it or anything and I have no plans. Screw that, I ain't ruining my tranny. I think my original post was layered with enough sarcasm in "supposing you didn't just destroy your tranny or clutch" to hint that it is a stupid idea.

my fault FourthGenHatch, not aimin that at you, i too do not believe in burnouts, they kill tires and trannies all at the same time. and Jackasssi, it dont matter what you got in the engine bay, if you do it right, you will break traction. i know a dude with a geo metro, yes, it is a three cylinder, (he lives in CO so his stock 60hp was prolly more like 45hp , i dont know real stats on those im just guessing), he wanted me to show him how to burn out, and i did, and it worked just fine.

the spares spun so easy on my car I thought the ground was wet ... no wheel hop or anything ... just had the ebrake up and the car chilled at about 3k while I was doing the burnout ...didnt even have to rev that high to keep em spinnin.

Transmissions and axles are like spare bolts in my garage. If one goes out, I have plenty more. I own my car to enjoy it, have fun with it, play around with it. So I do what I want with it.

I agree with cyberfelon, athough I can't say I never do burnouts, but if I do I do them like he does, dumpin the clutch is so hard on everything, I can usually get rolling, then let out the clutch and they'll be smokin just fine in a split second
