Lincoln LS keyless entry programming

I have a '00 LS. I am trying to program the keyless remote, I do this by turning the car on and off 8 times which should lock/unlock the doors. But when i do this nothing happens. I can take the same remote and program it to my '00 Windstar, so I know that there is nothing wrong with it.

Is there anything that I am doing wrong or that I need to look at to fix this? Any help is much appreciated.

WILL HAVE TO GO TO DEALER AND HAVE THEM HOOK UP COMPUTER AND PROGRAM IT. BUY A 03 IF YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO PROGRAM IT. tHAT IS THE ONLY WAY

if you have only one remote your better off buying another from ebay or alike..this way you can have two remotes programed at the same price. The dealer is the only one that can program the remotes..
