I was wondering if anyone had done this conversion. I might be the first to try it. If someone has, was it hard??

a One-Via!!! i say do it. that would be awesome. and then you could make a Sileighty with the other parts. you are a very smart man...i might have to try this in the future.
not sure about how hard it would be, but the doors on a 180SX are the same shape as the door on an S13, so if you cut the body at the backs of the front fenders, they should line up good.

I am hoping it will all line up without too much trouble. I will post pics as soon as I start. I have just ordered a Sileighty from HLJ too so that will be fun. The Sileighty will have a race wing and will be lowered with Advan RG's. Pics soon.

Your gonna need a 180SX hood too. Or you could cut the S13 hood where the lights should be. I think you should definately go for it.

It does work like that, I did the conversion years ago, cut the whole front end off at the leading edge of the doors. I'll dig it out for photos later. It's missing a mirror...:frown:

if i find another 180SX kit (hard to find around here), then i'll probably get an S13 kit too and make a One-Via and another Sileighty, just swap front ends! :bigthumb:

Of the four S13 front/rear combos, I have to say the One-via (a.k.a the USDM S13 coupe) is my least favorite. And I love pop-up lights... Maybe it's because I still feel stiffed by Nissan for not having real Silvias in the US....
That said, would still like to build one myself, and would surely love to see yours, Bob! :D

it's probably because we see them every day around here. we take them for granted. it's not "out of the ordinary" or "weird" so see a One-Via driving down the street in North America, where-as a Sileighty would attract alot of attention.

Maybe, but still I drool over the fastbacks, just not the coupes, when they have the same front end. Maybe I don't think the pop-ups suit the coupe as well... I dunno

guh :bloated: i don't understand the onevia. i prefer a sileighty. i guess i haven't seen a onevia eh? make sure they are from the same model manufacturers.. last year i was into trucks and i really loved seeing chevrolet silverados with cadillac escalade front ends.. so i got a DIE-CAST model of both.... i couldn't find plastic models.. and tried to do the conversion myself. oh jeeze the issues i had.. the escalade front end is wider than the silverado so i never figured out a way it would work. i still have everything and i may try and start it again.. for those who don't know what i'm talking about, i've attached an image of a real truck that inspired me...
good luck on the conversion.. i'd say go with aoshima. i think they make both..

Fujimi S13 do come with face-lift 2 bodykit and the normal bodykit (like Tamiya). As for the rest of the 180SX or Sileighty, fujimi have some different version (early and late). Tamiya S13 still having stock, but as for 180SX...pretty hard to find.:frown:

Yah, they'll probably not mix, since FOTWs 180sx kit dosen't fit on Fujimis!
Anyways, S13Iketani, can you explain the whole "One-Via" thing? I guess I don't know much about Nissan car "nick-names," huh?:)

Roughly speaking:
2 cars: Silvia (Sil-via) and 180SX (one-eighty). Now if you (or Nissan) combine the two you (or Nissan :)) can get two different cars:
1) Sil-eighty (Silvia front end on a 180SX) and
2) One-via (180SX front end on a Silvia). :)

i'm pretty damn sure Fujimi doesn't make a One-via...but the easiest route would be to simply buy a Fujimi 180SX and a Fujimi S13, cut them both off at the front of the doors, and just swap front ends! that way you get a Sileighty AND a One-via.
Hono - Ales did a pretty good job of explaining it, but here's my explanation from the 240SX Forum's FAQ:
"Short Explanation Of The Term "Sileighty" (if you didn't already know it)
as you well know, 180SX's are very popular drift cars in Japan. with drifting comes crashing. the 2 go hand in hand. if you drift, then you WILL crash at least once. it's not an "if", it's a "when". anywho, these drifters in Japan with their 180SX's would have an accident involving the front end of their car. but they found out that 180SX front ends are more expensive then Silvia front ends, because of the flip up lights and the mechanisms needed to make them work. the Silvia front end is also lighter because of the lack of those mechanisms. so, since the 180SX and S13 Silvia platforms are exactly the same, these drifters figured out that, for less money, they could buy a weight saving S13 front end and stick it on their 180SX. this hybrid freak-car was given the name Sileighty. why? well, it's simple. the Sil stands for Silvia. since the front end of the Silvia was used, they use the front end of the word. and thusly, the Eighty stands for 180(SX). again, since they used the back part of that car, the back part of the word was used. and the rest, they say, is history. another popular variation in Japan is the One-via. a One-via is the exact opposite of a Sileighty. it's a 180SX flip-up-light front end on an S13 coupe rear end (one for 180, via for Silvia)(all north american S13 coupes were technically sold as One-Vias). since the 180SX front end is heavier and more expensive, this serves no real purpose except to be unique. some other variations are the Sky-eighty (Skyline front on 180, needs custom fabrication), Cef-80 (A31 Cefiro front end on 180, custom fab needed), One-firo (180 front on Cefiro rear, LOTS of custom fab...) and the ever popular 1580 (S15 Silvia front end on 180, technically this is still a Sileighty, but it's called a 1580 so that it's easy to differentiate between S13 and S15 Sileighties). there are countless other combinations, most of which require custom fabrication in order to look good."

There are four "parts":
180SX front end (pop-up lights):
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~vj5y-tkur/180sx.jpg
180SX rear end (fastback):
http://www.win.ne.jp/~ita/takao/personale/180sx.jpg
Silvia front end (fixed lights):
http://village.infoweb.ne.jp/~noboogo/silvia1.jpg
Silvia rear end (coupe):
http://www.bruclass.com/car/images/silvia1.jpg
That makes for four combinations:
Fastback with pop-up lights = 180SX
Fastback with fixed lights = SilEighty
Coupe with pop-up lights = OneVia
Coupe with fixed lights = Silvia
Generally speaking, that is. While the US-market 240SX fastback looks pretty much like the 180SX, there are several other differences, so simply calling it a "180SX" wouldn't be accurate. The same goes for the rest...

89-93 you mean. 95 was the start of S14, and 94 was convertibles only.
forever_sidewayz - the car looks very nice except for 2 things. 1) the wheels. they look too big, and don't really suit the car well IMO. 2) the clear tail-lights. that just...doesn't happen on a Sileighty.
