I start my truck up today and there is no sound from either door speakers. No crackle, hum, or nothing. Tweeters work great, extended cab speakers work fine. I read in another forum that it could be due to rain. It did rain all night. How can I protect future speakers?
I have 2007 Extended cab z71.

the door interior should have a plastic shield. you use some double stick tape .
oem speakers are of the lowest quality

I have the same issue on my 2006 silverado, Front door speakers just produce a faint noise and the odd time they kick on fully. Loose wiring perhaps ? but I can't seem to find it.

remove the speakers and check for bad speaker. use ohm meter check coil resistance . with radio on tap speaker and see if it cuts out/in..
as was mentioned many times before these are of the lowest quality...
also use some plastic for a shield ... 6 mil is strong to handle the stress..
