A non-OBD JDM B16 engine, tranny, and ECU would be pretty cheap compared to some other engine combos. Since you are a cable clutch and it is too, plus you are non-OBD and those are too, that should work fine and drop right in. I personally like the torque of a 1.8 better, but that wouldn't be a bad choice for your car.

here are soem websites that sell engine, tranny, and ecu combos
http://www.nippon-motors.com/
the have 88-91 JDM B16A's with the engine, cable type tranny, and ecu combo for $1350
http://www.ardperformance.com/
there price is $1595 for the B16A engine, cable type tranny and ecu. $1695 for the "gen 2" type of the same.

a much easier swap would be to go for a d-series motor like a D16Y8 Or D16Z6, much easier to swap into a civic, than the b-series, but they arent as powerful outta the box.

however i bought my b16 from www.hmotorsonline.com for 1500 which included shipping to my door 3000miles away from their company.

I'm just not a fan of swaping in a D-series motor. I Just think it's a waste of money, with the price of B16 cable tranny non-OBD's so much lower than the OBD-1 and 2 hydraulic tranny type, I think it's a much better investment to get the B16. Their not that hard to put in either, Hasport makes mounts that really make it a "drop in prodcucer" for the 4th gen's. I mean, I ditched my d-series for a b-series, and I'll never go back:biggrin: I know some people will deisagree with my statment about d-series motors, but thats just my opinion. I feel that if your already spending money, spend the extra and put in the b-series one. I nver heard anyone complain about dropping a d-series motor for a b-series.
